Product Overview

Cork flooring combines the beauty of a natural and truly renewable material with the comfort of a cushioned, warm and silent surface. It is highly sustainable since the cork oak trees are not cut. Only the outer bark is harvested, and it will grow again each 9 years. The new narrow and beveled plank format creates a more appealing and elegant look than traditional cork floors that are made in large panels. Cork flooring is warm underfoot, comfortable and soft to walk on, anti-microbial, fire and moisture resistant and provides unrivalled noise reduction properties. Installation is made easy with the precision milled glueless locking system. This floor features an integrated underlayment made out of cork. Easy maintenance: simply vacuum. Prefinished cork requires no additional sealing after installation. Warm to the touch and resilient, cork floors are a great addition to your home. Ideal for all levels of installation. This floor qualifies for 4 LEED points: (1) EQ4.3 (Indoor Environmental Quality)-Low Emitting, (2) MR4.1 (Materials & Resources)-Recycled Content, (3) MR 6-Rapidly Renewable Materials, (4) ID 1-Innovation in Design.

Customer Questions & Answers

is cork a good product around a area that could be damp at times

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi there Chris, Well that all depends...unfortunately there is no mention of where exactly you're inquiring about installing this product or what you mean by "damp at times." Cork Floors have a sealant put on the top layer for water resistance, but if this is going in an area with known moisture problems from the subflooring and not above the surface, then I suggest addressing them first as this will not solve your problem. If you have any further questions on this, please create a new question on this product and provide us with more information about this job.

I'm interested in installing cork flooring in a 4-season room. I am concerned about sunlight. Will light fade or deteriorate cork flooring?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello rae and thank you for your question. The Millstead Copper Plank Cork Flooring will fade and lighten over time. If you want to install cork in your 4-season room, consider installing window coverings. Another option is to install window films that reflect the sun’s heat and block the UV rays to protect your interior furnishings, including the new cork floor! Best wishes on your project.

Do you recommend your product for bathrooms and kitchens. Also, how durable is it if you have a dog and grandkids?

Do you re-coat the cork flooring after installation and periodically after that. What do you recommend and how often? Are glue down cork products more tolerant of wear and tear?
Asked by: Anonymous
Millstead Cork floors are approved and warranted for all areas of the home except full baths. Pet nails can dent/damage wood and cork floors, so it is recommended to keep their nails trimmed regularly, and you should consider using area rugs or runners in their most heavily trafficked areas. All Millstead Cork floor are prefinished with a UV-cured urethane topcoat, so it is not necessary to coat the floor upon installation. For older floors that are exhibiting scratches and/or gloss reduction, floors can be screened and re-coated with additional urethane.

Must Cork Flooring be acclimated? (in the midwest?)

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello, Mike. No, you can install it once you take delivery. If the floor is going to be stored for any length of time prior to installation, we would recommend it is stored in an environment consistent with the area to be installed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful floor We recently had 55 square feet of cork flooring layed over our old tile, in our kitchen, dining room and family room. It brings a new demension to our condo that looks warm and rich! We couldn't be happier. Easy to install, and easy to care for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Purchsed this flooring and installed really looked great. we had put flooring paper down to protect while work was being done we used blue painters tape when we wnet to remove the tape it has pulled the finish (picture) off the flooring. We also drop a book on the floor and it put a big dent in the flooring. Alos do not let your wife wear her high heels as they leave small indents Real poor I am not sure where you would use this stuff since it can not handle normal use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap Product I had previously installed cork flooring bought from another vendor. I was quite happy with my purchase. This was not the case with the Milford product. I found it to be cheaply made and flimsy. I plan to return to Home Depot at my earliest convenience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not very durable I didn't install the flooring because of the poor quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from buy 1/3 more than you need we had this professionally installed; contractor tells me many boards rejected because they either had dinged up/broken edges on the tongue and groove and corners or the pieces were not the same depth. we have a whole box of waste on this tiny bathroom floor, really glad I over ordered.
