Product Overview

Engineered for performance, value and extreme reliability, Power Pet doors are motor driven and activated by a tiny ultrasonic collar. Other electronic pet doors merely unlock a hinged panel, requiring your pet to push it open. Thats something that a lot of pets don't like to do. Patented Power Pet doors open completely under there own power. They feature a translucent door panel made of a new super-strength, bulletproof resin. When your pet approaches, the air-tight panel quickly and quietly powers upward disappearing into the stylish housing. Because the panel moves up and down and does not swing out, it can mounted in hermetically sealed grooves for air-tight closure. This mounting arrangement makes it impossible for an intruder to kick it out. The result is the most secure pet door against intruders and stray animals. Your pets are empowered to come and go as they please while their animal friends are politely asked to stay out. Panel Size: 12-1/4 in. x 16 in. for pets up to 100 lbs.

  • New water-resistant collar operates for months on a single lithium battery and ultrasonic operation will not interfere with or be affected by other electronic devices
  • Directional sensing system opens the door only when your pet is on a direct approach, not when he is just wandering by, sitting or sleeping next to the door and dual range controls let you set independent inside and outside activation distances
  • 4-way access control lets you select from in only, out only, full access or closed and locked with automatic locking steel dead-bolt
  • 3 power modes: 1-standard AC wall adapter (included), 2 - optional, auto-recharging battery back-up protects against power outages (requires optional battery), 3-battery only without an AC wall connection (requires optional charger kit)

Customer Questions & Answers

If the puppy sleeps or hangs around near the door does it keep opening or stay open?

Asked by: Petmom
If you turn the sensitivity down it will not keep going up and down. Our dog had his food and water bowl within a foot of it and we didn't have any problems. It is designed to go up with your pet facing head on.

Is this door open/closable from other locations?

I am purchasing a dog door and am wondering if I was to install this door in my garage, if I could activate it with my smart phone. Eg. I leave for work at 5:30 a.m. but don't want the dogs out that early to wake the neighbors, could I activate it to open from my work place at a later hour. Or can it be put on a timer? Thanks.
Asked by: Simplykeeptraining
I installed this door on my parents house years ago. It cannot be operated remotely. However - a solution could be that your wall outlet have a plug in that IS capable of smart phone remote. That way the power is completely shut off from the door until you switch it on with your phone.

Asked by: Retta
Yes you need a collar for each dog which is about $37. After that you should only need to replace the batteries. I did order an extra collar just in case something happened to one of them, but that is not necessary. I would keep extra batteries on hand. For some reason you can't get them just anywhere.

How may pets can use this door?

hi i was wondering if there was a limit to how many pets can use this door i have 8 rescue dogs and am trying to find an electronic door that can have up to 8 thanks!
Asked by: RaynBowPaws
As long as each dog has on an electronic collar than it should work. It works off of the same frequency or whatever. We had three with no problems, greyhounds and they used it without any problems.

12 in. x 16 in. Power Pet Large Electronic Fully Automatic Dog and Cat Electric Pet Door for Pets Up to 100 lb. is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth It Large dog has become incontinent and the current door was a bit small so he just went in front of the small dog door. The electronic door is larger, opens as he faces it, and there are no accidents. The smaller dog can use it also. I put a strip of old carpet in front of each side of the opening and taught the dogs to scratch at each place. This assures that they are standing at the right place to trigger the mechanism for opening/closing. Even when no human is home, they can go in and out without the worry that another critter, four or two legged, can get into the house.

I loved the fact we didn't have to get up to let the dogs out and it kept the weather and wild creatures out. The only bad thing was the collar batteries only seem to last 3-4 months. We have had it for over 5 years and three dogs have been going in and out of it alot. I don't know how we ever lived without it. Now that it is on its last leg I don't even want to go one day without it. Try it you will love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Power Pet door The contractor had a little trouble installing it but mostly the difficulty was with the wiring aspect. The dogs are not yet using it without coaching but can get out easily. I like that stray animals cannot come in since we live in the country.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SPOILER! I invested in this door 7 years ago. I have two dogs that keep this door moving 24/7. It also survived a tornado back on April 27, 2011. The door still works but just opens and closes a little slower!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what was needed This is the perfect item for my dogs to come in and go out on their own. No need to stop cooking to let the dogs out anymore

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NOT happy, unfortunately This doggie door is a great idea, but the sensors and the transmitters kept failing. The transmitter is too flimsy for any dog that shakes its head (and they all do!), and the sensors failed twice in one year. The collar transmitter failed twice. We finally gave up, and have put back the original, old-fashioned flap-style door. Customer service was good, but what's the use if it keeps failing, and you have to take it apart to fix it? Also, the potential for the dog getting trapped outside or in, especially at night, is not acceptable. It was not cheap, and it's a shame it didn't live up to our expectations.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase The door itself is great but what is the use of a great door if the collar doesn't work to open it. It is useless! I paid extra to buy the 100% waterproof collar as we live on a lake. It is certainly NOT 100% waterproof. The least bit of dampness causes the collar to fail. Each time I have to put in a new battery at approx. $12 each ( shipping to Canada is soooo expensive, plus the exchange and customs) Then it works for a couple of days and then Bingo, the end. The customer service is non-existant. The 1-800 number does not work from Canada so each call I make I have to pay for. No one every returns calls or e-mails.It is SO frustrating. They certainly were friendly when it came to purchasing the door, but no follow up service. My dog LOVED it for the short time it worked.....she now stands at the door with her nose pressed to the glass waiting for it to open.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from poor customer service! I have purchased 3 of this company's electronic pet doors and unfortunately have mixed reviews. While I have had very little problems with the doors themselves, the collars have quite a few issues. We have a large and medium door which we placed into the wall and a medium one for the patio slider, and as I said have had no problems with the doors. The collars, however, are a different story! They are flimsy and fall apart easily. You must buy the waterproof ones if you dog is going to splash through puddles or run in snow, or God Forbid, go for a swim!!! The batteries are expensive and are not easy to replace and the plastic housing breaks easily. This company's customer service leaves much to be desired as well. When I called once with issues and questions related to how to adjust the sensitivity to make the door work better, the customer service rep was curt and rude and treated me like a second grader. When my out- dated collars ceased to work and I was unable to produce my purchase order number, they were unable to help me. So, if you buy from this company, be sure you keep all receipts in a handy place---you will be needing them! They do not keep records of any purchases past the one year warranty period. What about keeping in touch with the clients who make purchases to let us know about new products and upgrades we may be interested in? Marketing 101.
