Customer Questions & Answers

Does it come with a suspension deck and what type? Also, what is the weight capacity?

Wood slats, and apparently less than 200 pounds.

How thick is your mattress on the top?

My son has a 4" memory foam topper on his twin right now. Wondering if he will be able to use it if I get a cheap standard 6" mattress to put with it. To clarify, will a 6"mattress with a 4" memory foam fit on the top and not sit taller than the back? I don't mind if it sits taller than the head and foot ends.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty Good Purchase Overall, I thought this bed was pretty good, but there are several things I think you should consider before purchasing. One, I think the picture is a little misleading. I had thought that the bed portion would be more narrow which would result in the bed feeling more like a couch when not in use. But you really need to pay attention to the dimensions and you have to remind yourself that twin size mattresses are still pretty wide. So in that respect, unless you have very fat cushions to put up again the back, you'll sit on this thing and your knees will not reach the edge unless you have really long legs. In addition, I looked at the picture and thought that the backboard would be much taller above the mattress. I don't know if I just have a thick mattress (mine is a Soft-tex gel foam in case you're wondering), but the back of the bed is not that high at all once you put the mattress on it. This means the headboard comes to the height of my mid back. My last issue is with the put it together yourself design. I am someone who is all for putting things together yourself and I can't think of a piece of furniture that I have ordered that i have not put together myself and without help. So a few things you should know, its hard to explain, but certain aspects of the design make it a little more difficult for one person to put it together on their own. It requires being able to hold one end of the bed up while screwing something in on the other side of the bed. I managed it with some creativity. Also, there's a big part of the design that requires that you attach pieces to one another using wood screws. Well get this, they didn't put the holes in there for you. So if you don't have a power drill, and I didn't, you will find yourself struggling to drive the screws into the wood. Finally, for some reason I thought that the trundle would come to the height of the day bed so that you could sleep on the full thing as if it was a king sized bed. I may have missed something when i was reading, but this is not the case. The trundle is pretty much a close to the floor bed. You can use it as a drawer potentially if you don't buy a second twin mattress, but you can't double the size of the bed. All in all, I'm a simple person, and at the end of the day these things don't bother me to the extent of returning the product but I figure for some they could or could not be deal breakers. Its still a sturdy product and the leather is actually really nice. I actually live in a studio sized apartment alone so this fits very well into it. I also took the trundle and flipped to the other side of the bed so that the bed's headboard is now the backboard for the trundle. Throw in a couple of couch pillows and now the trundle serves as a couch and its working pretty well for me. Eventually I will use the under the bed space for storage. And yes, I realize that the daybed was intended to be used as a couch, but when I use it this way, I know have two pieces of furniture, one for sleeping and one for lounging. Also, because the trundle is so low, I can rest against the back of the day bed.
