120-Volt 1/2 in. Universal Wood Drill UD 16 Keyed is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully Engineered Drill I really like this drill. I have a lot of drills; corded and cordless. I use them for various tasks. When I need a lot of torque and/or a lot of control, I reach for a corded drill. My go-to has always been the Milwaukee Magnum hole shooter. This drill is better in a lot of cases. The low speed setting has tons of torque, and the variable speed range actually works. The trigger is super easy to control and very responsive to even the slightest changes. The high speed option is really great for smaller twist and brad point bits and is missing from my other VSR drills. I was also pleased to see this is equipped with a keyed Jacobs chuck that has almost no discernible runout. The handle is really nice and locks down easily and positively. The depth rod is nice for drilling blind holes. This drill does have a mild hammer action. I've found this to cause slightly elongated holes when using larger (3/8" +) twist bits. However as a trade off, this drill will work in many different materials. I wish there was a setting to turn the hammer off, but it's very mild compared to a true hammer drill. Hilti really makes well engineered and durable tools. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone that demands the highest performance possible when drilling larger holes into wood where a huge right angle drill would be overkill. For drilling metal I still prefer the Milwaukee magnum, but this is up to the task and will perform well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Professional grade drill. This is a nice drill that would be a good choice for any serious do it yourselfer or professional on a jobsite. Here are some specifics I noticed about this drill: • It has a huge amount of torque and can catch you off guard if it catches on something so be careful. • The trigger control lets you vary the speed but this takes some getting used to and some practice “trigger time”. • There is no place to keep the key for the chuck and I can see this getting lost almost immediately on a jobsite. • The instructions/directions are a little lacking. They do cover everything but are not that intuitive and you have to keep referencing the drawing to see what they’re talking about. • The side handle is nice but takes some practice to use properly. It clamps by turning the end of the handle which again, was not that clear in the instructions. • The position of the handle itself is a little odd compared to the direction control on the side of the drill. I am right handed and had the handle off to the left which means it was hard to switch directions. This would be especially difficult with the depth gauge installed on the handle. Again, this drill would be a good addition to any serious do it yourselfer or contractor’s tool arsenal. It focuses on one thing (drilling) and it does that one thing very well.
