Customer Reviews

20 in. 50.1 cc Rear Handle Chainsaw is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Took a chance...GOOD MOVE !!! Needed a chainsaw , due to number of dead & dying Ash trees on my property . Back in the day was home re-modeler/carpenter ,and have purchased many Hitachi elec. power tools ie. saws, drills ,as well as air- powered framing & roof guns ,which I still use today .Have always been very pleased with the tough build quality .Virtually never a break down . Asked many tree service guys and kept hearing Stihl and Husqvarna . Checked prices and didn't feel like spending $500.00 -$600.00 . Decided to go with the Hitachi medium/heavy duty 50.1cc rear handle . Did price check and found better price elsewhere. **** HomeDepot did price match ,make sure you ask for it . Got it shipped free .Cost me a little over $250.00 and change .... AND the REAL deal maker !!! 7 year warranty for home use . That is SEVEN YEARS . Its powerful, well balanced and easy to start (once I stopped flooding it ). I'm not big on doing reviews ,but felt I had to let others know what a great product they make. Also , Kudos for Home Depot ! First one they shipped me had cracked left side plastic housing.Called 800 # guy & he said " send it back ". Had new one 3 days later ! Cheers, Rick Northeast , Ohio

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk I was really excited when I found this saw on for such an amazing price. After reading the other review here and several on another competitor's site I was convinced that this saw was a great deal. The price was just too good to be true to pass up, Home Depot has the best price I could find. Now I'll admit to all the gear heads out there that I am not a chainsaw expert, so this isn't a technical or specifications of this saw review. I'm just a homeowner that's all. I own a number of pieces of power equipment and they are all kept in good repair. I always run ethanol free pre mix in all of my machines. What I will asert is that I do know how to read directions, after all I passed elementary school and a few grades after that. So when the saw arrived I unpacked it and I carefully read the directions about set up. Then I read all of the directions on startup. After all of that careful following of directions I pulled the starter on this saw for over 30 minutes to no avail. The saw was completely DOA. It coughed life a total of two times in that 30 minutes but never turned over completely. I was so disappointed that I drained the saw, took it apart, and boxed it right back up. The only silver lining to this review is that my local Home Depot store took the chainsaw back no questions asked! In summary this Hitachi chainsaw is not worth the time or money, it's just plain junk, look elsewhere to spend your hard earned money. Thank Home Depot for standing behind your product anyway.
