Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great all around tool. I have used this nailer a few times on small sheds and so on. When I bought this product I new it wasn't meant to compete with an air powered nailer. I have to say that I reach for this nailer every chance I get. It's perfect for me because I build small buildings away from power often and I don't have to carry an air compressor. Once you adjust the depth of the nail you can switch back and forth between framing nails and 8d nails to nail 7/16 Osb with out it driving them to deep. And you can use 21 degree nails with it which i already use with my air nailer. It's a win win for me and would buy again. I've been building for about ten years so I know it's a good tool.paslode fuel cells work with it too. December 10, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Works good, but only on certain projects. 1st off the paslode red gas cartridges "DO" work in this gun. You cannot buy hitachi gas cartridges unless you get them directly from hitachi. The nail gun drives nails very good. The down side of this gun is that it is trigger actuated, meaning you have to set the gun, then pull the trigger for each nail. You "CAN'T" just hold the trigger and tap the gun and shoot a nail. It's part of the safety of this type of nail gun. It is a good nail gun if you need to use it where there is no power, or don't want to get out a compressor and hoses. It is not a good gun for a big project like re-sheeting a roof, or other similar projects. October 29, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Price. Great Gun I initially wanted the Dewalt 20v nailer but was unwilling to pay $200 more. Also most other air nailers are 21 degree while this was one of the few cordless that was also 21 degree. I already had a box of 21 degree nails for my air nailer which was also a factor(not having to purchase more nails for the other angles). I unpacked it and put it straight to work. I made sure to also order some fuel rods because they are not included. The Paslode red also work and can be picked up at the store. It was easy to handle, load and use. It worked flawlessly and actually better than my air nailer. The number of nails per charge and fuel cell will vary above and below specs but is pretty close. It paid for itself in the first roof job by not having to drag out the compressor, hose and cord. Be sure to keep the filter and mechanism clean especially if in a dusty work place. Take care of the tool and it will take care of you. June 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Tool This tool is an unbelievable value. The similar Paslode tool is $100 more! I've used mine for multiple projects already and it's held up great. It won't replace my air tool, but it is great when you don't want to deal with a compressor and hose getting in the way. For those of you who have used gas nailers before, you know that ALL gas tools require you to release the nose after you fire. This isn't a safety feature, this is how the tool functions. Also, I picked up a pack of Hitachi gas cartridges when I bought the tool. I would definitely recommend this tool to anyone in the market for a gas nailer! January 26, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great balance, easy reload, long lasting battery and fuel cell I'm a former carpenter. I do all my work myself. This gun is a big part of my tools now. I'm finishing my basement currently and framing with this gun makes it a breeze. This is my second nail gun I've used. The first was a air nailer. Working with a hose and compressor limits movement and the compressor is noisy. Working freely with the Hitachi is a much better, qiueter experience. The only complaint I have is it only holds one clip of 20 nails. After shooting about five nails you can put another clip in. Weight and blance are awesome. Price is what I'd expect to pay for a tool of this nature. February 14, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Final QA check in Factory Purchased new - right out of the box the gas cartridge would not seat tightly in the gun which prevented nails from firing. It wasn't even close to being tight enough to provide pressure for the gun. I was really looking forward to using this gun, super disappointed. Returned this Hitachi for a Paslode which works great. Did NOT try the warranty return because I needed a nail gun NOW. A lost opportunity for Hitachi. September 13, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for small projects but get a spare battery For small projects there is a benefit to not needing a compressor and extension cord and long hose to setup before shooting your first nail. Storage space is much less as well than a compressor operated nail gun. The primary drawback is that it takes more time for the gas charge to build up and then for the gun to eject a nail. There can be a 3-5 second pause between pressing the head against a board and having the nail ejected. A secondary problem is that the battery which is very small (and light) does not hold much of a charge. It is adequate when new but as the battery ages it holds less and less of a charge. I have had a battery that appeared OK and charged normally run out of juice after 50 nails. Be sure to get a second battery and have it available as no battery charge means the nail gun is out of commission. The adjustment range leaves a bit to be desired as well. Shooting galvanized nails through 1" thick redwood fencing the minimum force setting leaves the head of the nail protruding but a 1/8" adjustment of the head and the nail is buried by more than 1/4 inch. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Simply Amazing The title says it all but I will get into more detail. I don't like a lot of noise and cords all over a already cluttered workplace so this gun is perfect for me. The fact that this gun is as strong as any other nail gun yet much much lighter amazes me. The battery really does last a full day easily and I'm still on my first gas cartridge. The only real pains are finding supplies and cleaning the gun. The supplies are limited at home depot--in fact the only place I could find the gas was in the tool rental area! Imagine that. I called another Hitachi dealer and ordered the cleaner and lubricant for the gun which were both quite affordable. The amount of time it takes to remove the filter and clean it is more than I would care for but this gun is totally worth it considering how light and portable it is. May 6, 2012
