The planter boxes arrived in perfect shape. They are well-constructed, look great, however in an apparent cost-saving technique, staples were used throughout to fasten the top pieces to the side pieces, to make a stronger top should I decide to move it. I installed (3) 2 1/2" #10 brass wood screws per side, at the top, using the existing staples as guides for my pilot holes (the end holes were about 1" from the ends of each top piece). I advise you to verify that this is the correct size wood screw before you drill. I used a power drill for both the pilot holes and for installing the screws and countersinking flush with the wood (use as little torque on the drill as possible to avoid splitting or weakening the attachment).
After installing the screws, the top of the boxes were much stronger. Consider and place this planter where you want it to stay, because it is quite heavy when filled with wet potting soil. Without casters on the bottom, I may need something like a dolly to move these around.
I considered these planters to be an excellent value and will probably use screws if I see any sections separating. Please shop around for similar 22" redwood boxes - they probably cost far more than this one and may also need some TLC when outside, that's the nature of natural products!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by HDcust99 Added screws and now really sturdy
I have limited space and use wooden planter boxes for edibles. My experience with other wood boxes that only had staples led me to add screws. I plan to move the boxes to overwinter plants so wanted solid, stable planter. The wood is thicker and red/orange in color so believe this is redwood and not just cedar. I used self drilling wood screws and only splintered wood at couple screws. I think it will hold up to moving with a hand truck. Time will tell.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Dragonfly The planter was well made and will last many seasons.
I was satisfied with it except the color was a pinkish brown tone that I had to paint it to match my other redwood pieces. The construction was solid and I would buy another in the future.

Not at all what you would expect, beware buyer! Structure and wood could be much better.
