Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thunder Redwood Planter Box is Stunning
I purchased 3- 31 IN. X 18 IN. REDWOOD PLANTER BOXS and 4- 21 X 21 REDWOOD PLANTER BOXS A Total of 7 to put in different areas of our cottage. The cottage is green and these planters look stunning We filled the planters with soil, planted 2 mini trees in front of the garage and now waiting for the weather to get a bit warmer to start our other plantings. ~Enjoy~

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by BornStar poor construction
This is a very poorly constructed, very rough hewn box with gaps between pieces that would not efficiently hold soil. Inner dimensions are significantly smaller than advertised. Had to make a lot of alterations (adding wood pieces to cover gaps, calking open joints, drilling bottom holes that were not drilled through) before it was usable.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bunbury Finish too rough. Assembly not required, but repair is.
On the bright side, if you buy this planter you get some nice redwood, cut to the right sizes and seemingly fully assembled. The negatives?
1. Rough finish. I totally agree with the previous reviewer who noted the rough finish. From the photos, you might expect to get nice, milled redwood. In fact, the surfaces are quite rough, grainy and splintery, almost like the cheap wood you see in packing crates. But it is redwood and with a little sanding, you can improve the appearance signficantly.
2. Assembly. I disagree that no assembly is required. Yes, they come assembled, but they are assembled so poorly that you will need to reinforce or reattach the pieces. All of the joints seem to be held together with long thin staples. No screws, slotting, or anything solid and firm. As with the rough finish, with effort, you can solve this problem.
While the planters, in the end, can be nice, a product that needs so much re-working by purchasers does not deserve more than two or three stars at most. If I wanted to build and sand my own planter, I would have just bought some nice lumber.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Morgan Exactly what I was looking for!!
The planter box was just what I wanted. It was the perfect size for my herb garden. I keep it on the deck for easy picking and looks beautiful! I will probably buy another. There is nothing like cooking with fresh herbs.

This comes fully assembled. It does not contain an insert for planting.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by IndyLynch Really Nice
We ordered (2) planter boxes. The planter boxes are really nice and sturdy. they come with (2) pre-drilled drainage holes. We planted (3) pepper plants in one and (2) basil plants in the other. They will have plenty of space for roots and product.
One of the planter boxes; the bottom slats had a couple of 1/8" gaps between them. I put a little cardboard over the top of the gap. Works just fine.
After looking at the price of planter boxes and pots in general - these were priced appropriately (to sell).
They come completely assembled!!!! No tool or instructions (in 15 different languages) - just pull out of the box, fill with dirt and PLANT.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by summer1 Pretty and wide for multiple plants
This attractive redwood planter is wide enough to hold more plants than a round one and looks even better once it is planted. It is a little rough on sides (it is redwood, after all), but the edges of the top "lip" are smooth. A few strokes with a piece of sandpaper on the other edges smoothed it out. I liked that there is no paint to leach into the soil. I screwed 2" casters to the bottom because planters get heavy with soil. The side posts are in an "L-shape" so I could not attach the casters there, and the bottom frame is only 1.5" wide. The bottom boards are only stapled to the bottom frame, so I took a chance in attaching the casters to them rather than the frame because the boards would pop up if something heavy pressed down on the top frame (like an animal). They did pop up so that the planter can drag on the deck; I just lift a little to take the weight off when I roll it now. I plan to resolve this by screwing the bottom boards to the bottom frame after the growing season is over.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by kjco came assembled, very rough finish
Ordered two and one came damaged. Finish is very rough, splinters poking everywhere. I was thinking about returning both of them but then I just sanded the sides down with electric sander and in about 20mi/box they looked better. The came all put together so I guess the time you normally spend on assembly, you spend on sanding them...
