16 oz. Aerosol Ceiling Popcorn Professional Match Texture is rated 1.9 out of 5 by 85.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works if you take your time Be sure to read the instructions and take your time. I tested on a small area first before tackling a larger area. You need to cover the area below as if you were painting. I started out slow and you cannot tell the area that was patched. Be sure to let it dry before going over again if you need a second coat. Would buy again.

Came back to bottle two hours later worked for 10 sec. and then stopped shooting. It just fizzed out. This product is messy and is very frustrating.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for large spots We removed a closet and had to repair large spots in the popcorn ceiling after removal. I thought this would work well. After 3 cans, I finally figured out the best way to use it. Do not use small bursts as the can says, but large sweeping motions for larger spots. This will allow it to blend with the existing ceiling better. Otherwise it really doesn't look the same. It is also a VERY bright white, so you will likely need to paint the ceiling after the patch dries. Overall, it did the job, but was very, very messy and the can really doesn't cover very much area. The painting after was the hardest part!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Need Experience As long as the ceiling is classic popcorn you can do a very good cover and blending job with this product. You will have to have had a lot of experience doing it go get good. Best results spray can upwards from min 3-4 ft. away and do in short bursts. You will have to blend a bit into old. You may also have to pop some the bigger globs with your finger to blend. If the ceiling is painted use the same paint.. there is over 200 shades of paint so matching will be impossible. If not painted but popcorn is old and stained your are gonna notice that it is lighter there a bit. There you go!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk What a terrible product! I followed the directions very, very carefully after completely sealing off the small room where I needed to apply a square foot of texture to the ceiling. I shook the can more than a minute, as recommended. Pressed the nozzle . . . and nothing! After playing with the nozzle for about 30 seconds, it finally gushed texture onto the ceiling, which promptly fell to the floor. After repeated efforts, a small quantity of the texture ended up on the ceiling, while the vast majority ended up on the floor, plastic tarp covered walls and me. I sprayed in 1/2 second bursts, as recommended, but the product still ran out within about two minutes. This is a horrible product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time user of this product and it turned out great. Will be using more often. Steps I took for repairing a 6' x 2' area. 1. Tape seams in drywall. 2. Mud seams tell there smooth/ sanding if need be. 3. Key one I found help was Prime the area with a primer to seal dry wall mud. ( bull-eyes 123) This helps the spray to attach to the area you are working. 4. Lay plastic over everything and I mean everything. 5. Build a rectangle with plastic around the area to help with over spray. 6. Another key one soak any can of this product in warm water not boiling but warm to help build pressure inside can, since this product works best around 70 degrees. 7. Spray in short burst over area since you have about 10 sec of working time for each can. ( It took 2 cans to cover this area.) Spray about 12 inches from ceiling for best results. Let it dry 24 hrs per coat application. 8.Pull plastic around area your working. Prime the texture with a primer again to seal the mud base product since it will soak up any water from painting. 9. Paint the area with ceiling paint and your done. These are the same steps I used for the wall base one also since I did about 6' x 8' area of wall patching. Only used 1 can of orange peal spray for this area. If you want your product to work follow these steps since each can are costly and Doing a little more preparing will save you $ in the end.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A great concept that's simply not DIY friendly When we had a small 8" square patch to repair I was hopeful this would be the solution. Conceptually, this is what you want. Spray it on and move along. Only it doesn't work. This is akin to spraying confetti mixed with oatmeal. Really wanted it to work, but it requires too much experience and delicate technique to get right. If you work with it over and over, perhaps you can get satisfactory results...but I'm a homeowner and don't want to perfect a technique. I want to fix a problem. The Homax premix tubs are way better and actually replicate the texture quite well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hit or Miss I am really surprised that Homax hasn't figured this product out. I use the spray wall texture all the time and think it's great; just take your time and try not to do the whole job in one setting. The ceiling texture on the other hand is very problematic. I used a can about a year ago with perfect results. The tale of the tape on my job this weekend. Area to be patched was about 18" by 18" around a ceiling fan. Followed directions on the can to a T. First can ran out of propellant with about half the can left. Spray was kind of weak to begin with, but it provided a good base to build up. Second can just barely dribbled out. Total waste. Third can sprayed perfectly and the repair is perfect. So I guess the rule here is but 3 times as much as think you will need and you might have just enough to finish with out a trip to the store.
