How many cans of spray do I need for 560 sq ft room

Asked by: boat
One can covers a maximum of 110 sq feet. That would be for a light coat. My experience with it has not been good. No matter how much I shook the can to mix it the texturizer came out a dripping mess, dried flat on the wall even after several re-coats. The can also lost pressure while it was still half full. You might consider buying a hopper ($30), a carton of drywall texture, rent a compressor if you don't have one and watch a few you tube videos on applying wall texture. Practice on scrape sheetrock or board to find the pattern you want. I did the entire interior of my home. It looks professional and I didn't spend a lot on little overpriced cans that don't give even texture.

how do you do the knockdown part of ceiling spray?

none
Asked by: Beachboy
Wait between 2 and 4 minutes depending on how heavy it was put on. Try a section lightly with a 6" knife. If it is too wet, wait a couple more minutes. Keep the knife almost parallel to the wall and I emphasize LIGHTLY run over the top of it to knock it down.

20 oz. Ceiling Orange Peel and Knockdown Spray Texture is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 59.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing results I was surprised by how little area this product covered versus how expensive it was compared to the same product that was in a powder form. When dispensing the product make sure it is with in the manufacturers temperature specifications for the results will not be desirable. I have used both aerosol and powder form, you would be better off using the powder form even for smaller areas

There are alot of negative reviews on this product for sure, but there is a trick or technique to using this product and I bet if you use this technique your experience will be more positive. First off, it's only the pressure in the can that gets the texture out of the can and smoothly on the ceiling. To that end the texture simply has to be warm, in the area of 60-70 degrees. So set the can out in the sun for an hour before use or if it's a cold day set the can in warm water for awhile. When you get ready to use it, you have to vigorously shake the can for a couple of minutes. There appears to be a metal ball inside and as you shake the can you will faintly hear it bump around, not like a spray paint can and it's metal ball where it rings like a bell , this is more muffled than that. But hearing it at all means you are doing the right thing. The point is to stir up the texture so it is a uniform consistency inside the can, no clogging or clumps. If you use the texture when it's too cold or poorly shaken, it's going to spray out in clumps or clog up the internal nozzle. So do the can prep right. There's not alot of control of texture output, it's all done by the selection of one of two nozzles and how much texture you spray on in one area. If you do get clumping, that is fixable by dabbing , don't wipe, with a paper towel. I use this stuff all the time and certainly a hopper is better, but for a single room, a hopper is just too much set up and mess. For small jobs, this is the best product for putting texture on a ceiling.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible I read all the reviews but I still bought one. It worked great for the first 5 seconds and that's where the problem started. No matter how much I shook the can it lost all of it's ability to reach over 3 inches. It was like tooth paste coming out. Thought I had a defective can bought another one, same results.

Regularly your only option is to use popcorn texture or try to get orange wall texture to hit but no more this solves that issue easily. Thanks HOMAX

Product is so watered down that it will not produce a decent texture. Not enough pressure in can to propel the product. Most just ends up on the floor.
