No, this is absolutely the wrong product for that application. You should look at using a clear silicone caulk for sealing a crack that will be exposed to water.

Make sure you read the label because they come oil based and water based. I always use the water based. One time I was in a hurry and picked up the wrong one but noticed my mistake before using it and exchanged it for the water based.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No better way to match an existing wall texture I've been using Homax texturized for maybe ten years now, in home remodeling. It's pricey, but the oil-based product (which stinks horribly when applied) has evolved into an excellent product. For patching wall repairs, no better way to match an existing texture. The user needs to have open windows for 2-3 hours, or have good exhaust fans in the room. If you're a first-timer, you need to adjust the flow dial at the back of the spray nozzle, you need to shake the can occasionally while using, it, and I encourage you to roll on a coat of primer after it's applied.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Trial and error Got set up at job site ready to spray...prepared can for pattern and pressure...brand new can had no pressure. Expensive product and couldn't be used. Add to that the time lost on the job and a return trip to the store for another can...hoping it wouldn't have the same issue. This is not the first time this has ever happened. Should learn my lesson and go back to the traditional methods for texturing and forget the "shortcuts".

Rated 4 out of 5 by from never buy the water based. we have bought this version before to our satisfaction. Smelly but effective. We tried the water based afterwards, which resulted in unacceptable results. It just doesn't match he original orange peel. We even tried several cans to see if it wasn't an issue with that specific can. My advice, don't ever both with the water based and go for this one.

The tip clogged 3 times, had to run it under hot water and work the build-up out of the tip with a nail. What got on the wall looked very good but the coverage didn't come close to what the can says it covers. This should work much better for the price. I ended up doing my project with roll on texturing.

The first coat as a base application. The second coat to achieve the look you are trying to match. You can also use a damp spong when almost dry or 220 grit sandpaper to get the actual matching texture your after.

The cans that I purchased were defective, I bought a total of 5 cans, 3 of the 5 were defective. Either the spray nozzle was broken or the propellant did not force the product out of the can. Very frustrating for only a 5 minute job.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Need smaller can for small jobs The product worked well. However, this stuff does not store well and when you only need a small amount and the store only carries a large can with a price tag in excess of $13, it seems way too expensive. How about carrying some smaller, less expensive cans of this product?
