I purchased this product to restore a 12"x76" section of drywall that was replaced in a kitchen after removal of tile, and outlet relocations required the removal of the section. I watched several YouTube videos of this product to gain knowledge of it and how it worked before I purchased it. I read some of the reviews and saw folks had some difficulties, so here is what I learned about using the product.
First, read the packaging thoroughly. Re-read to make sure you understand exactly what the instructions say. Shake the can upside down. If you think you shook enough, shake some more. Even after that, shake a little bit more. Depending on the size of your job, work in small sections. Each time you do a section, shake the can again for several minutes. Intermittent mixing is necessary.
You must allow 1-2 minutes once the product is on the wall to "dry". How humid your work area is will have an impact on this time. The more humid it is, a little more time is necessary before knocking down. You will have to gauge this as you work.
Spray from a distance minimum of 6-8". Do not get closer or you will "blob" up the works and it will not perform as stated on the can. Work in an up and down motion, in columns. Once finished in your section, wipe the nozzle but be careful not to hit the trigger or more your settings.
Use a flat blade knockdown trowel around 6-8 inches. Dip the trowel in warm water, and shake the water excess off, but make sure the blade is still wet. It should have a sheen of water on it, no more than that. Lay the trowel as parallel to the wall surface as you can and let the handle simple lay in "U" of your thumb and pointing finger socket. Let the natural weight of the trowel do the work. No force is necessary.
Let the trowel come down and it will knock the sprayed material down very nicely. You will know if you pressed too hard if the sides of the trowel caused a line mark as you travel down the wall area. No problem. Move the trowel over so that 1/3 of the trowel overlaps the line where the knockdown ended on the previous pass, and repeat the process. It will smooth itself out.
Here are pictures of the finished result. You cannot tell the difference between the original knockdown and the replacement. It blends in perfectly.
I did have other areas to do on adjacent walls in the kitchen which were equal to the 12"x76" drywall I replaced. The 25% can had less than a quarter can left when I was done. Application was MEDIUM and according to instructions. I believe the stated area coverage on the can is a little overstated, as the manufacturer's application style may not be the same as yours. Judge your job accordingly and purchase what you need. You can always return to your Home Depot any unused, undamaged product, in original sale condition for a refund.
I hope this review helps someone who needs to do his/her repair job. Take your time, read the instructions, shake, shake, shake, work in small areas. Do not rush, but take your time, and your project will come out like a pro.

If you are a DIY'ER and are going to use it on the walls it's awesome however if you are going to use this on the ceiling think again before purchasing if using on the ceiling it will clog and not work the pressure volume ratio is not good.

Fairly easy to use for small repairs;but the can runs low on air pressure before product, even with shaking the can before and during use also keep in mind the heavy setting covers up to 35 sq ft, it took 2 cans for me to cover 50 sq ft.

Poor design of pressure/volume controls result in frustration. The instructions are just plain wrong on how long to wait to knock-down product, you need to wait as long as it takes to set up. But the controls are worthless, can't get product to spray yet it drools down the can despite manic shaking, not worth the effort!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by PJS This stuff is garbage
The product spits out in "balls" and you have to be an inch from the wall to ensure it doesn't land on the floor instead. When you knock it down, it sticks to your tool, no matter how much water you use on the tool. The price is ridiculous, even if it did work.

Purchased this product on Sunday. Followed all the directions, watched all the video's and should have read the reviews more carefully. Had to repair about a 32 foot linear area that was repaired and needed to be textured. Purchased 2 cans and both ran out of pressure before being empty and as the pressure reduced in the can the spray became erratic. In the end, spent last night removing the texture and will be going back to to see if Home Depot will refund the money.

Use as instructed and its like it runs out of pressure. Starts off strong but then it doesn't spray very well. Try clearing it out upside down. Shaking a lot. Eventually it just drools out and is useless. And there is a lot of stuff left in the can.

Do not buy this product unless you like tossing money out the window. 1/4 way through the can and it runs out of propellant. I shook the can for 2 minutes and what ended up on the wall was a runny mess. Tossed the remaining can in the trash. Never again. If I have a small repair I will just break out the knock down gun and air compressor. Don't waste your money folks.
