Answer:
Hi ray- This has not been tested. I would suggest dabbing the patch onto the ceiling to cover any broken pieces.

I don't understand how this is applied to give a a smooth finish with dabs of popcorn. Do I use this with spackling and this is the "popcorn" part or is it complete in itself? Can someone explain about applying the product?

Answer:
This should give you a popcorn look not a smooth look, you dab it on the ceiling to make a popcorn like look.

7.5 oz. Popcorn Ceiling Patch is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great! Use this for small repairs!! I purchased this product to repair a crack in my textured ceiling. My ceiling is vaulted and the crack occurred where the 2 pieces of drywall meet. The patch did well and dried white. It might require additional paint to match the rest of your ceiling when it dries. The applicator tip helps to keep mess down to a minimum; however, the tip is kind of fragile and for the lack of a better word, "rubs" off after a while. Also, this might require additional "coats" to match the thickness of the original popcorn ceiling.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Now I understand why it is not stocked in store. Must knead product. It is difficult to deal with as it does not apply easily to ceiling in vertical position.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best popcorn repair material I ever used ! Spray doesn't work .Those large containers hold popcorn pieces that are too large to cosmetically match existing popcorn .This patch is very delicate and matches very closely . Nothing will match exactly but this is the closest I've ever used .It starts drying immediately and is very close to the existing color - much , much closer in color than I ever expected when dry . Also , it is very , very easy to use . I used a styrofoam dish with the tube to pour out extra that I needed as I went along . The tube applicator is good to initially spread the popcorn but I would recommend using a sponge paintbrush of approproate size to spread it out and complete the job .I even used a hair paintbrush attached to a pole ( for a cathedral ceiling ) to apply it in an area that I could not reach easily . Finally it is a great product at a great price .Remember - tubes are not that large so order some extra to make sure you have enough like I did .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Needed to repair two long cracks that appeared on my popcorn ceiling in my mobile home. I came acrossed this product online that had good reviews. After ordering online, I hoped for the best. No mixing or spraying; went on easy. The color was gray at first but after 24 hrs, it dried white. No cover up painting was needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zinsser Bindex Acoustic ceiling patch I had a small area that had been water damaged and didn't want to invest in the time and trouble of using an aerosol. I tried this product and found it to be very easy to apply. The pattern of the original was very easy to duplicate and there was absolutely no mess. The only problem is the small quantity. I was only able to cover 4' of the 2" tape joint with the tube. I need 5 more tubes. It is also slow to apply (20 minutes for the single tube) but the results are well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding application process After fighting an application war with the tub and spray modes of this product, I purchased this tube and can only tell people how simple and quick this application form is. I fought to get the ceiling settling crack to match the rest of the ceiling for weeks. Then, with one application, using the tube, it was done to perfection. Only drawback is the size. Buy an ample supply or you will be re-ordering. Forget the tub and spray wars and go directly to this application form.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Much better than the spray Their popcorn spray was junk, this stuff is much better. The only problem I had was that after 48hrs it was still dark. Not as dark as when applied, but noticeably darker than the adjacent ceiling. I kneaded it very well. I used some flat white paint on it and now it's more white than the adjacent ceiling.
