can homax be used on laminate floors?

Asked by: awyles2
"Laminate" covers a broad range of products and potential finishes. I haver used it many times with great success on furniture with shellac and various types of lacquer. Pre-finished flooring may have a broad range of catalyzed or UV-cured finishes. It probably won't do damage as it's a rubbing oil and abrasive, but may not remove white spots (blush). It can also remove light, non-wood-penetrating scuffs.

I read positive reviews so I also decided to try it on my living room end table which had 2 white rings left from plant pots that overflowed and sat for probably a week. This product worked! It took a lot of rubbing before I actually got some results, but I was sitting next to the table watching tv and just kept rubbing. My arm got tired, so I stopped a bit then continued. I probably spent close to an hour on both rings, but they are invisible now. I worried that the next day they would reappear, but they did not. This product met my expectations and more. The price was very reasonable also. It is also good for more than 1 use. I put it back in the original packaging then put it in a ziploc bag..

I was leery to try this but I figured for the $5, whats the worst it could do. Actually, I was pleasantly surprised. The white rings in question were from a dish that overflowed over Christmas, so the rings have been there for ~ 3 months. Some areas were worse than others. So far I have done 2 treatments, and I would say the rings are 80-90% gone. It took a bit of elbow grease and time, maybe 5-10 minutes of firm pressure both times, but the results are worth it. Better than having to spend $$ getting the table refinished.

It not only removes white water rings from furniture but it also removes all kinds of other little marks. It even removed old wax buildup from a 70 year old bedroom set I inherited.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my "Magic Cloth" I am a professional touch-up and furniture repair technician. I use these all the time and is a staple in my kit. Not only does it remove water rings (I've removed some that had been on antique furniture for decades), but it also works to remove minor scuffing, paint transfer, and finish damaged by plasticizers from little plastic feet on things like electronics. I've never had them fail. It will leave a bit of oily residue that is easily removed. I use naphtha or Guardsman Furniture Polish to do this. The abrasive in this product can also affect the sheen, leaving a fairly glossy surface. My solution to this is either do the whole surface (e.g., an end table top), or follow up with a spritz of touch up lacquer of matching sheen, or rub with an appropriate level abrasive (steel wool, polishing compound, etc.)
