We had a plasterer in a while ago and he worked on a ceiling crack next to one of our skylights. Unfortunately he left without refinishing the crack so we decided to try out the Homax spray texture. Very easy to use, simple instructions and excellent results. The nozzle on the can has two separate controls - spray thickness and spray pressure. The latter is quite a clever idea allowing you to adjust the pressure of the spray as the material in the can gets used up - since the can was full, we selected the lowest pressure however as the can empties you can increase the pressure to maintain the flow of material. Before we attempted the repair, I dug out a piece of scrap MDF and put 5 strips down, adjusting the spray thickness between passes. This also helped me get the hang of how to lay down the material properly. Once this had dried I was able to compare the finish on the MDF with the finish on the area we were repairing and settled on a medium setting on the spray nozzle. We threw down a tarp on the floor and then sprayed on the texture, holding the can about 18" from the ceiling. Not too much of the material ended up on the floor but I'd recommend a tarp if you're using this to fix a ceiling. In one area I applied slightly too much texture and was able to flatten this out with a damp kitchen sponge before the texture material was dry. The material is a beige color when wet and took about a couple of hours to dry out completely. Since we had a white ceiling, and the material dries white, you couldn't actually see where we'd made the repair and I have no plans to paint as it is very well hidden already. Clean up was simple - we just held the nozzle under the cold water in the sink and wiped the can dry. Great product and a lot cheaper than a visit from a plasterer!

I just used this to repair a section of wall after moving a light-switch up a few inches. Basically, just followed the directions, no idea what I was doing, but it has worked perfectly.
The hardest thing was breaking off the right tab (at first I was stupidly trying to rip out the whole trigger).
Before this I had to call my drywall guy and pay at least $100 for these sorts of repairs, so this was a massive improvement.

I purchased three cans to repair an extensive area. Each time, the pressure in the can fadded before the material was fully used. In two cases ~ 1/2 the can had materials in it.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by LLB2 Looks great but spray stops after 1/2 or less of the can is used.
I thought the first can was my fault, I used it on the ceiling. The other 2 cans were for the walls (and the part of the ceiling that the prior can didn't cover). Should of only needed one can for the entire room. I need to go buy a 4th can to finish my 4 X 8 bathroom and only the top 1/2 of the walls and the ceiling were textured. (wainscot and shower walls to cover the lower 1/2)
All 3 cans ran out of air very quickly. A few seconds for the 1st can. 90 seconds for the second and about one minute for the 3rd. Tons of product left in the can, no way to get it out. at 18 bucks a shot I am very disappointed.
On the bright side it looks great and is easy to apply. Smell not that bad either. Dries quickly, will paint after I go buy & finish the rest of the wall.

I have used the spray wall textures with great outcome so I purchased the ceiling spray with high hopes. I covered what I thought was a decent over-spray area, including suspending drop cloths from the ceiling around the area I was spraying. But the spray literally covered my entire bathroom and myself. I spent more time cleaning up than time I hoped to save using a spray can. I had to leave the drop cloths down for a couple hours because the product continued to drip off the ceiling. I would suggest using this product outside somewhere you don't mind making a mess until you get the hang of using it and the spurts you get when you first start using it are gone, assuming the spray evens out eventually. I can not be certain it will get better because I got so frustrated after a couple tries and massive clean- up that I just threw it away.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by seasoonaladjustment Disappointed, non-PRO GRADE is better.
I usually purchase the regular can (non-PRO GRADE) fro Homax. This time I had a bigger job and decided to go with the PRO GRADE. About 10% through the can it stopped spraying. Really disappointed. The non-pro grade Homax Orange Peel works well, I would suggest purchasing that item instead.

Pro Grade provides an easy to use application that creates an orange peel look to your wall. The adjustable trigger provides varies degrees of texture to the application but is sensitive and requires practice prior to actually applying to the wall. It is very easy to overwhelm a wall with the material by spraying too much in the same area. The material dries very quickly and is ready to paint within an hour. A little practice will go a long way in creating a beautiful orange peel finish.
