The hardest part of assembling these lights was unraveling them. My suggestion is to open the box inside the house, not while you are on the roof, and gently start pulling the wires apart, remembering that the thickest bunch (three wires together I think) is the main wire and the rest are the hanging icicles. It takes some patience, but you'll get the hang of it after the third or fourth string. Spend some time stretching out the icicle wires so they aren't tangled when you hang them on the house. Other than that, installation was a breeze. Buy some gutter hooks and string them along the roofline (see photo). And remember that you're not supposed to connect more than 3 sets of these lights together. I was forced to run two separate extension cords up to the roof: one that goes up behind the gutter on the far right corner, and another that goes up the same corner but is hidden inside the front gutter until it reaches the center of the roof, just over the front entrance. I'm not sure if you can connect 7 or 8 sets together, despite the instructions that say to connect only 3 at a maximum. Just didn't want to take any chances. I think they look good. Very bright. We'll see how well they hold up under the snow and wet weather.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by justferfun Good looking lights on the cheap
I've had these lights up on my house now for 4 years in a row. I attached a picture though it doesn't do them justice at all.
Pros: They are cheap, beautifully colored (if you like clear lights) and work well. I keep expanding the
area I cover with them.
Cons: They are not LED and i end up having to replace 3-4 lights a strand each year (due to wear/tear, the wind and other elements).

I bought 8 of these four years ago to hang across our eaves. When we put them up for Christmas 2014, we noticed several would not light but in enough places as to not be noticeable. We think we got great value out of these inexpensive light strings for lasting four years!. They hang down nicely (we use the clips under the eaves) and are a true clear light - no yellowing. We are looking forward to hanging these new ones for 2015.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by toto section of the string is dark after less then 24 hours use
I bought 3 sets of these mini icicle lights and after using for one night only, a section of a string is completely dark so what they claim on the Box "if One Bulb Burns Out, the Others stay Lit" is FALSE and Good Luck repairing it
The other problem is that on each string there is couple of bulbs that have different bigger base size then the others and no replacement bulbs were provided for those

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Paul Great lights, but very stiff wire
We put these up in accordance with the instructions (up to 3 strings wired in series) and they worked great for us all winter. They held up during several New England blizzards and didn't fade in subzero temperatures unlike some of the LED strings we bought. They cost less than many of the other brands, such as GE, and the quality seemed good. The only downside is that the wire insulation is very stiff so try to pull the "icicles" down inside where it's warm if you don't want them to spring back.

Regarding the previous review. Most likely there is a loose bulb in that section. As for the different size bases, you can remove the lamp from the socket of a replacement lamp by straightening the wires and pulling it out then use it to fix a burned out bulb in the larger socket.

Put these lights up on my roofline and after second day I have two entire sections of lights out right down the center of the house. Not true that if one bulb goes out the rest stay lit.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by JayGS Failed in less than 24 hours
Like others, I had a section of these lights fail after less than 24 hours. I hung them up in the evening, admired my work, but the next night a section (probably about 18 inches) did not light. We hadn't had any rain, bad weather, freeze, etc. I drug the ladder back out and checked the bulbs to make sure that none of them were loose, but no such luck for an easy fix. You get what you pay for, I guess. The reason I am still rating them as fair is that I hung 4 sets of these lights and only that one section failed, so that is pretty good for the price compared to similar lights. I'll be interested to see how well they hold up through the season, though. Since it was such a short section, I just repositioned the lights and twist-tied them in an overlap to cover the dead section-- it is noticeable if you look closely in the daylight, but I was in no mood to go through the effort of taking down that section and returning them to the store for an exchange and you can't tell in the evening when they are lit that anything is wrong.
