Answer:
Is it a pushbutton timer or does it slide? If it's a button all you do is press it once, the lights will go off after six hours and stay off for eighteen. If it's a slide on the box just slide it to timer. Hope this helps.

try either taking the batteries out and put them in again or just replace them all together. Occasionally on start up it can cross fire providing bad signals. If that doesn't work you may have a defective unit. Most often it works though. I have 16 wreaths with these and starting up I may have to do this on 2 or 3. That's kind of hard to answer. The bulbs are small so the spread of light is minimal. I don't believe there is any color fade, they just blink on and off when in "color change" mode, from blinking white to green and red. It's really very nice for a wreath, a mantle behind decor or threaded through a holiday floral garland. Hope this helps.

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 35 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Batteryoperated lights with timer! Awesome! We were happy to find the set! We would certainly recommend your holiday shop to friends and family! October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I haven't used this batch yet but bought 2 sets last year and loved them. I added the extra sets this year because they work so well. As the package says, I can set them on a timer and choose whether I want white, steady color, or blinking. I set them once and they all go on and off at the same time without me doing anything else. They did not use much of the batteries I used either. Nice product! October 25, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice product, box is inaccurate though. They do not "Flash" Picked these up for a wreath. They work well and have some nice features like the 6/18 timer, the color shift, and the battery pack being disconnectable. The box states you have a choice of; Warm White Multi Flashing Warm White Flashing Multi Thats not what the product offers though. It offers; Warm White Warm Whit timer Multi Multi timer Color Change Color Change timer While the color change shifts each bulb from white to one of 4 other colors (each bulb is white and has one other color) it does not offer flashing as the box stated. Other than that inaccuracy its a nice product. December 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Just ok I purchased a case of these lights and when I placed batteries in them only about half worked. The problem is the plastic piece that holds the batteries in, keeps the battery from making contact with the (-)(+) contacts on the battery box. So I folded some aluminum foil and placed it on either side of the battery to fill the gap. Using the unit on timer mode only worked for a few weeks on 6 of them. But they worked fine with (on) mode. With them being on all the time I only had to replace the batteries twice. Which isn't too bad. I used these in my Christmas displays from Thanksgiving to New Years. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great alternative to extension cords People have been telling me I should put lights on a driveway metal railing for years, but I didn't want to run extension cords down and across my driveway, and then have to worry about damaging them during snow removal. These lights have been a perfect solution. They are about 17 feet long (one is about 6 inches longer then the other), and have a control box on one end (mounted to the left post in the picture). The control box has two compartments sealed with gaskets, one for the 3 D size batteries and one for the weather proof switches. One switch controls the light color (I only used the multicolor after verifying both worked), and one is the on/off/timer switch. The timer option turns the lights on for about 6 hours, then off for 18 hours. The duration can't be changed, but 6 hours is a good fixed duration. The lights have been installed for about 3 weeks, through light rain, snow, wind, and temperatures between 10 and 50 degrees F. I would prefer using the more common rechargeable AA size batteries, but it looks like the D size alkalies will last at least one season. Changing batteries in very cold weather could be a hassle, the screws to the battery cover stay on the cover, but the small nuts can easily fall off the box. The gaskets may need to be reinstalled so they aren't twisted, and may work better with a light grease used for underwater camera cases. Overall a great product for the price. January 5, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Product not as indicated on the box in photographs or descriptions. My wife and I bought two strands of these lights at the Boulder, Colorado Home Depot. The box clearly indicates that the strands are "multi-color" and shows red, green, blue, yellow, and orange lights. Neither of the strands we purchased had any blue or orange bulbs, and one strand had only one yellow bulb. Both strands were almost completely red and green. This was disappointing and suggests poor quality control in the manufacturing of this product. This now requires our returning the product and searching for another - a huge waste of time during the busy holiday season. December 4, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by INCONSISTENT TIMER I purchased 2 sets of these battery-operated lights. One worked fine but the timer on the other one worked inconsistently; it came on and off willy-nilly. Unfortunately I used them both on one shrub because I needed 100 lights but could not find a set of 100 battery-operated lights with a timer. So, all month I had to go outside when the 1 set came on and manually turn on the other one; same for turning it off. Big pain in the neck and disappointing. I could not exchange it because there were none at my local store. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Adorable I live in an apartment on a first floor where i have a small garden with upright bushes and mini trees. so i have no outlet outside my house and an extension cord would not work so i bought these operated batteries lights I've had them since nov 1rst and they are still going i love the timer feature it lights up at five turns off by 11pm then restarts the next day so i don't have to go outside and check...its been a month and the lights are still bright all y neighbors love it.
