This light is meant for a house or business that wants an older antique style to it's decor.
Assembly is very simple. Common sense will get it done in minutes, but the manual will walk you through it quickly if you want to use it or have never installed a new fisture before.
Wiring is basic three wire installation. Color coded, wire nuts are also included. This would be an excellent light for the beginner to learn basic light wiring and installation. Anyone can install this.
The pendant cord is nicely done. Covered in wire loom fabric just like the antique power cords used 70+ years ago. You can cut it to any length you desire, or do as I did and coil the extra wire inside the electrical box in case I wanted to lower it later. The cover plate is attractive and the glass has a nice fogged look. Very accurate to the period it's trying to replicate.
The light is gives with the included bulb is not intense, it's not supposed to be. It's a nice ambient yellowish color. This would be a beautiful accent over an older kichen island or used above a wet bar for setting a mood.
The included light bulb is the perfect accent to complete the light's look. Nicely detailed and gives the light the exact look you want for this style of pendant. I haven't looked up replacement costs on the bulbs yet, but have been told they are common enough that they won't be hard to find. You can use a regular light bulb, an LED bulb or a CFL if you desire as long as you stay within the rated watts, but any of those choices will ruin the old look of the fixture. It wil work, but it will look very out of place.
Intelligent and accurate antique replica design, quick assembly, easy installation and all the hardware included makes this a good buy for anyone wanting to match their older home decor.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by MrFixIt A nice little lamp, but for a very specific space
I chose this lamp because of what i THOUGH it would look like. Once it was installed in place, however, it didn't really satisfy me. I'm not a design expert by any means, and perhaps i just don't have the right type of space for it. But it just seems like it really needs just the right spot to really make it shine . If you have it hanging too low, like over a counter or a bar, i could see it easily break. But if it's too high close to the ceiling, it looks small, and out of place. I'm not sold on the style & design, but this is just a personal preference. It would fit well in an antique or rustic space.
The installation was a breeze. Included instructions were completely unnecessary. If you've ever replaced any light fixture before, you can do this in the blink of an eye. Took me 5 minutes.
The packaging could use improvement. When i opened the box, all of the screws and nuts were strewn around inside the box, instead of being in a bag. The main wire and fixture seemed to be kind of just running loose as well. Other than the AWESOME Marconi-style light bulb, there was nothing special here.
The cable for the lamp is a thick weaved shield, which is both durable and aesthetically pleasing. It is plenty long for all but the tallest ceilings. The construction of the actual lamp, however, could use some improvement. The large plastic nut that holds the glass in place has threads which are too big, and hence cause the nut not to sit flush against the bottom of the glass. This results in the glass dome sitting a little bit crooked. It's noticeable up close, but not far away. In addition, the light-bulb socket also was crooked, causing the light-bulb to sit askew as well.
Overall, i think this lamp has potential. Its oil-rubbed bronze finish is quite nice, but the lamp needs to hang low in order to see this beauty up close. There in lies the rub. The mechanical design seems to be a bit off, causing the glass and the bulb to both sit separately crooked. Its design flaw may be easy to spot with a discerning eye. The light bulb is exceptionally beautiful, and really makes this lamp. It's not a bright bulb, however, as most of the beauty comes from looking directly at the bulb. Don't expect to use this lamp to add a lot of light; it's purely a decorative or accent piece. Without this bulb, the lamp itself is pretty bland and unattractive. In addition, i don't think that Home Depot sells these bulbs, as they don't show up on their website.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tano Great looking retro light
I had been looking for a pair of original barn type lights for a craft area I was making for my wife, and was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to review this reproduction.
The fixture can use either the standard incandescent bulbs or the reproduction light bulbs that give it the antique Thomas Edison look. I also tried a compact fluorescent bulb and it lit just fine.
The light itself is well crafted and the enamel finish was well applied. The cord provided to mount the light has the authentic look of the old 1930’s cloth covering giving the impression it really is an antique. I mounted my light from the ceiling and there was more than enough cord supplied to drop it to head height with 9 foot ceilings. If you have installed light fixtures before this is just as straight forward, nothing complicated at all.
The only thing I did not like was that the light reflector hood id white. The bulb socket and cord are a nice antique bronze and I would have liked to have the hood be the same color. I purchased a second light and added two over the craft table and it really does look great. One thing to consider when choosing bulbs, the reproduction bulbs offered for these lights look great, but wattage wise isn’t practical for any kind of work area. They would look great over a bar or kitchen island or simply as an accent light. If you need some form of task lighting consider standard incandescent or fluorescent.

I used this light as an update to our laundry room area. It is traditional, but, modern at the same time ... something a little different from the norm.
