Can these be cut?

Can the length of these be cut? We would like to hang multiple shelves end to end the full width of a room.
Asked by: ALgirl44
You could cut 6 or 7" off one end of the 35.4" ones without interfering with the back plate tubes but you would probably not want to as you would lose the smooth plastic laminate covering, exposing the Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) on that end. Maybe this would be acceptable for instance, if that end was going into a corner.

Why are there 10 holes in the support bar but only six screws and four drywall anchors?

Our directions do not match the actual shelf. There are a different number of holes in the support bar in the directions than our actual bsr
Asked by: Kchristianson
Maybe there are two different designs in play? My back plates had 7 holes. I supposed the additional holes were to increase your chances of catching two studs but my back plates seem designed to prevent that. They were pre-drilled for 16.5”, 19.5”, 21 3/8” and 22.5” stud spacing. I have never seen anything other than 16” wall stud spacing. The 4 pre-drilled holes that are slotted only allow 3/8” horizontal movement so be prepared to drill into the back plate if you want to catch two studs.

I was tight fitting them in a corner and figured they would all be drilled the same from the factory, but they were not. should have measured and drilled them individually, but I did not consequently I have a couple extra holes to fill in my wall. otherwise the shelves worked well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from narrow mantle floating shelf nice product but very narrow for 8 x 10 picture frames...an averge picture frame will just about fit, otherwise you need very small and narrow pictures so they won't fall off the shelf

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Floating shelves look great and installed easily. Love these shelves. I bought them to display artwork and they were easily installed and look great. If they had a 42 or 48" long I would have preferred them, but the 31" are fine.

The shelves come with a paper template to level on the wall and poke holes with a push pin before installing. There are multiple hole locations for you to choose from, making it more likely to hit a stud. After reading other reviews about stability issues, I purchased and used a package of EZ Ancor wall anchors for $2 instead of using the supplied anchors. I mounted 3 different shelves total (2 of the 18" shelves and 1 of the 24" shelves). I used 3 screws to mount each shelf, though many more slots are available. I only hit one screw in a stud for the entire installation, so 2 of the shelves are not in studs at all. The shelf slides onto the wall mounted rods and then is secured to the rods with two screws through the bottom of the shelf. I read about issues of stability, but the shelves will support weight. I would not advise however pressing down on them. As for other reviews mentioning "wobble"... mine hold steady against the wall, but can pull about a 1/4" from the wall only if you pull on them. This is just the extra play from the screws into the rod itself. They will not come off the wall. Long story short, they are functional and quite stylish, but should be used for simple displays and not heavy storage. Hope this helps. Pictures provided to show installation and finished product.
