While we were pleased with the quality of the shelves, they looked just as expected, the quality of the installation hardware was atrocious. The screws came slightly bent, and when we screwed them in the heads would pop off leaving half or all of the screw stuck in the wall. This was an infuriating process and caused many holes in the wall (and cursing as well). Ultimately we bought heavy duty screws from a hardware store and the installation went fine from there.
In conclusion, the shelves are great, but the other materials are extremely cheap. If you buy this product, BYOS (bring your own screws).

Honestly, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who had a hard time finding an undamaged unit at the store. I finally settled for one that had a small pea-sized chunk taking out that I colored in with black marker. The funny thing is that the finish is not that fragile.
But this is a budget item. I got it as a temporary solution to hold some electronics below my wall mounted TV. Eventually I plan on building a real custom cabinet in its place. But for now, this is a perfect solution.
Even though it is a budget item, it works well. I actually found the provided anchors to work pretty well, much like lighter weight versions of pop-toggles. Now you cannot sit on this shelf, but it holds lightweight electronic equipment just fine.
One issue I had was my wall was bowed out. This may cause you a bit of grief like it did for me. I had to sand down the back of the self to follow the wall contour. Actually, this is a common problem that carpenters know well, but the way this product installs, it can get tricky.

This shelf was very easy to install and has been doing a fabulous job holding up my computer monitor and clock above my treadmill workstation. It's exactly what it's supposed to be.

The quality of the shelf itself is decent for the purpose of sitting things on it (although the 3 I ordered did arrive cracked and I had to go return them in-store for new ones). The problem with this item is that it claims to hold up to 30 pounds, but can barely take 20 before pulling out the drywall. If using for a few picture frames or decorative candle, this might be the item for you. If you want to put something more than that, be weary.

For the price, this shelf did its job. Coming out of the box it's simple, and the quality pretty much matches the price. Feels kind of light and questionable. Once installed (I decided to install on studs for strength/stability) it still feels sort of flimsy. I wouldn't feel comfortable resting the "recommended weight capacity" on it, but for a few lighter items it's fine.
I guess it comes down to getting what you pay for.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by irishgirlpg Great shelf but be prepared to spend time looking for one not damaged; buy better anchors
I almost gave this product 3 stars, but I didn't want to take away from its great appearance. Here's the thing - like many other reviewers, I had to go through many shelves to find a few that were not damaged, which of course entailed a couple of trips to HD for returns and re-purchases.
In addition, I followed the advise of an earlier post I saw by HD customer service, who recommended the use of EZ Anchors to install the shelves instead of the anchors that came with the shelf. This was a great suggestion, because the anchors that came with the product would have failed - either immediately or eventually. But with the EZ Anchors, the shelf is sturdy and not sagging (and the shelf is mounted in all drywall, no studs), and holds my DVD player and photo. NOTE: - there is an additional hole in the middle of the bracket that gets mounted to the drywall, so I put an anchor there as well for the heck of it.
With the "upgraded" anchors and finding undamaged shelves, they really do look great!

Bought 2 for a tall wall that needed something different. They work great for light weight items. They are easy to install and the color is a pretty expresso as stated.

These shelves look very cool, but are not functional. The installation hardware concept seems very nice, but does not work well. The packaging says it is rated to hold 17lbs. for the 35" shelf. We could not put 5lbs of books on them without the books crashing to the floor. The shelves tilt forward. Very disappointed. If we can't return them, we will install some cleats along the bottom and side (we have them in a corner) and hope that will help. Takes away from the 'floating' concept, but a nice looking shelf that can't hold anything is pretty useless.
