A smaller wood version of the Origami shelves. These shelves look good and are great when temporary shelves are needed, although they are perfect for permanent shelves as well. I haven't tried to stack these, but that option is available and make these shelves even more versatile. They are a great value when purchased on sale.

Very disappointed in the quality. I have two others of this style that are quite old. They are so much sturdier and heavier. I thought the mantle would stabilize the swaying but it doesn't. I also tried tightening the screws. And the mantle doesn't fit snug no matter what I do. Also, the hole caps on the sides are too big for the holes so they really don't fit properly. I would never consider stacking 2 of these, it would be disaster!
Pros: Nice honey color, no assembly required, portable, good size. A mantle is a nice addition. Very good customer service.
Cons: flimsy, sways even when fully loaded with books, Mantle doesn't quite fit snug, Not a good value for the money, would never buy another or recommend

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Antiqueshop1028 Great folding bookcase
I recently purchased this bookcase. I have others similar to it & love the fact it requires no assembly. It costs more than others I've purchased elsewhere but the quality is better. The stain color is true to the photo on the website. I recommend these bookcases to anyone needing additional storage who doesn't want to assemble the item.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GlassFuser The good, the bad, no ugly
The good:The bookcase looks sturdy and doesn't wobble on an even floor. I will be using it to display glass artwork pieces so it needs to be substantial yet I will be transporting it to shows so I needed something that folded and wasn't too heavy. I think this fits the bill.
The bad: The shelves are 10.25" deep, not the 11.5 that I was expecting. That measurement would include the sides of the case. It probably won't matter to me, but it might matter to some so they should change that measurement on the listing. Because these are meant to have either a top shelf (which I did not buy) or to be stacked, there are holes in the top that have small pieces of plastic dowel stuck in them. Stuck being the operative word - I can't get them out. It would have been better for them to come separately in a plastic bag rather than being hammered into the holes. I will probably have to take pliers to them, which worries me that I will scuff the finish of the case. Which is my final minor complaint - the finish. The shelves have obvious brushstrokes of the paint. This wouldn't matter to someone who's covering the entire shelf, but I will not.
But I searched for quite a while for a nice looking folding shelf that wasn't ridiculously expensive, so even with these minor issues I would still recommend this bookcase.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DIYMAVON Don't Waste Your Money On These
I bought 2 bookcases and a mantel. Both book cases are wobbly and unstable stacked or unstacked. I need to add bracing to make the units secure before they can be used. But then, that would defeat the purpose of having a folding, stackable book case. The holes for securing the mantel to either book case top were not aligned to the pegs and no amount of hammering or muscle made the mantel fit. By the time I take the effort to retrofit these 3 pieces, I could have bought something of better quality.

Over the last 10 years I have bought 14 of these bookcases. I am posting this review in response to the reviews that say they are "flimsy" and need to be anchored to the wall. Not true. My bookcases are stacked two high and totally loaded with stuff. These bookcases have never fallen over or collapsed under the weight. I have other bookcases with adjustable shelves held in by plastic and even metal pegs that have collapsed while these have held up. I have only ordered the oak finish (which is a little warmer than some of my other light oak) so I can't comment on the other colors.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DocPR Okay bookcase
I purchased four of these bookcases. They are attractive, but the construction is flimsy. They are definitely NOT the sturdy, thick wood kinds of bookcases I was expecting. Stacking them was not as easy as expected, either. The wood was warped just slightly, so it made it really hard to line up the pegs on the bottom of one bookcase with the pre-drilled holes on the top of the other bookcase. Finally, I have these bookshelves on carpet...not a good idea! These bookshelves (stacked tall like I have done) should only be used on tile or hardwood floors. These shelves looked a little like the leaning tower of Pisa before I added stabilizers at the bottom.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HannahHoch Solid bookcases, easy assembly
I am so happy with these new bookcases. I got two of the 27.5" wide ones and stacked them and they are very sturdy. The pieces are simple, the red color is deep and just dark enough that it doesn't look fire engine red. The whole look is quite harmonious with the rest of the room. I'm very pleased with the price, and the incredibly easy assembly. The instructions recommended that two people would be needed to stack them but I (a 5'2" woman with limited armspan) was able to manage lifting and fitting one on top of the other.
For a price similar to other big box stores, this bookcase definitely beats theirs for quality, by a lot. It's a really great value.
