We got this for our spare room, when we had guests staying for a month. (So that they didn't have to live out of their suitcases.) They used this for holding kids' clothes. This bookcase can be assembled in a jiff, and easily folded up for put-away. Very portable and versatile. I didn't give it the full five stars because I don't think it would hold up as well as a permanent piece of furniture for holding just books.

I bought 2 bookcases and a mantel. Both book cases are wobbly and unstable stacked or unstacked. I need to add bracing to make the units secure before they can be used. But then, that would defeat the purpose of having a folding, stackable book case. The holes for securing the mantel to either book case top were not aligned to the pegs and no amount of hammering or muscle made the mantel fit. By the time I take the effort to retrofit these 3 pieces, I could have bought something of better quality.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by goffer217 Exactly what we needed
We searched for months in stores and on line for a free standing cabinet for our remodeled bathroom. Nothing worked. Before giving up, I saw these shelves on the Home Depot website. I got my measuring tape and envisioned two of the shelves stacked in this room. Lovely.
The quality was higher than we have been finding these days. Actual wood and perfectly finished in honey oak. The shelves require no tools. Just take it out of the box, pull the sides apart and the shelves fold down into place. It is not wobbly but quite sturdy.
A true find at a reasonable price.
I found canvas containers in the store which fit and hide all my bathroom toiletries and cleaning supplies. Plenty of shelving left for towels and facecloths.

The bookcase was easy to assemble and is fairly stable. Securing it to the wall has made it even more so. We are quite satisfied with this purchase.

Over the last 10 years I have bought 14 of these bookcases. I am posting this review in response to the reviews that say they are "flimsy" and need to be anchored to the wall. Not true. My bookcases are stacked two high and totally loaded with stuff. These bookcases have never fallen over or collapsed under the weight. I have other bookcases with adjustable shelves held in by plastic and even metal pegs that have collapsed while these have held up. I have only ordered the oak finish (which is a little warmer than some of my other light oak) so I can't comment on the other colors.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Carter Highly Recommended Bookcase
These bookcases are sturdy and attractive. I ordered two, along with the mantel top, which adds a nice finishing touch.
If you want quality bookcases at an affordable price, these are the ones to get.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Summer Perfect bookcase!
The bookcase unfolded in a jiffy - no tools needed - to make an attractive, functional bookcase, perfect for my cookbooks. It is stackable, so I could have added another one on top. Since I didn't need a taller bookcase, I chose to buy the mantel top, which snapped on easily. The bookcase was very stable even before I added my books.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Seadog Sad example of poor quality.
The whole bookshelf is wobbly and doesn't support the weight of the lightest of objects placed on it. I really need it badly, so am keeping it, but the quality is quite poor. It stands up if I block it up against the wall, and then brace it between two other objects. This is America! All that matters is money these days. The heck with everything else!
