These bookcases are sturdy and preassembled. I stacked them two high with no problem. Set up involves getting them out of the box and then opening up the bookcase to allow the shelves to fall into place. Similar shelves cost more and must be assembled.

These shelves have joined our growing family of similar shelves. We bought our first sets in the early 2000s when one of our college aged children discovered them, and, as our library grows, so does our collection of these shelves. They are sturdy, easy to ship or pick up from Home Depot. They are available elsewhere but this price is excellent. Also, having them shipped to the store did away with the shipping cost. Excellent all round.

Very disappointed in the quality. I have two others of this style that are quite old. They are so much sturdier and heavier. I thought the mantle would stabilize the swaying but it doesn't. I also tried tightening the screws. And the mantle doesn't fit snug no matter what I do. Also, the hole caps on the sides are too big for the holes so they really don't fit properly. I would never consider stacking 2 of these, it would be disaster!
Pros: Nice honey color, no assembly required, portable, good size. A mantle is a nice addition. Very good customer service.
Cons: flimsy, sways even when fully loaded with books, Mantle doesn't quite fit snug, Not a good value for the money, would never buy another or recommend

I recently purchased this bookcase. I have others similar to it & love the fact it requires no assembly. It costs more than others I've purchased elsewhere but the quality is better. The stain color is true to the photo on the website. I recommend these bookcases to anyone needing additional storage who doesn't want to assemble the item.

I now have five of these! When I needed the fifth, I found it at Home Depot. It is reasonably priced, attractive and does the job I need it to do. I recommend it 100%

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by SVTutu2015 A handy "extra"
We got this for our spare room, when we had guests staying for a month. (So that they didn't have to live out of their suitcases.) They used this for holding kids' clothes. This bookcase can be assembled in a jiff, and easily folded up for put-away. Very portable and versatile. I didn't give it the full five stars because I don't think it would hold up as well as a permanent piece of furniture for holding just books.

I bought 2 bookcases and a mantel. Both book cases are wobbly and unstable stacked or unstacked. I need to add bracing to make the units secure before they can be used. But then, that would defeat the purpose of having a folding, stackable book case. The holes for securing the mantel to either book case top were not aligned to the pegs and no amount of hammering or muscle made the mantel fit. By the time I take the effort to retrofit these 3 pieces, I could have bought something of better quality.

I purchased four of these bookcases. They are attractive, but the construction is flimsy. They are definitely NOT the sturdy, thick wood kinds of bookcases I was expecting. Stacking them was not as easy as expected, either. The wood was warped just slightly, so it made it really hard to line up the pegs on the bottom of one bookcase with the pre-drilled holes on the top of the other bookcase. Finally, I have these bookshelves on carpet...not a good idea! These bookshelves (stacked tall like I have done) should only be used on tile or hardwood floors. These shelves looked a little like the leaning tower of Pisa before I added stabilizers at the bottom.
