I currently have mid-weight thermal, room darkening drapes and the rod is holding them well. You MUST use the support hook for the center of the rod for this width otherwise it will definitely fail [sag and bend]. For extra support, because only one of the rod brackets hit a stud, I devised the following solution: purchased lattice strips - about 3 inches by 1/4 inch - which I cut into 6 inch lengths, screwed them into the wall, and then screwed the rod brackets into these. Painted the same color as the wall, and covered by the valance and the drapes, no one knows they're there but me. The smaller double window is 48 inches wide but I have 84 inch long panels + valances [n=2 each] hung from this one. I did not use a center support hook, but the rod brackets are screwed into the lattice strips. So far, this smaller rod has handled the weight well with no sagging after 3 months. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy purchase online for Pickup, Curtain Rods sturdily built! M,l Once my Grandson had time to come and secure the Curtain Rod Brackets next to Windows, job easily completed! I purchased double Rods as all mine thrown away by remodelers of my apartment! I used both ( so far ) only in Bedroom ! After Putting my Sheers on Large living room Window , I like the effect so much, I'm still deciding whether to add the secon layer! ( mostly a flowing Swag) to he large living room window! I will add to the smaller width window for sure, but as I'm 86 I need. Assistance with it! I have documented from first bracket to current state, I also cannot drive to pick up articles and was really impressed asto how simple the Online purchase went and was ready for a friend to just stop and pick up! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Appropriate quality for price Great price for your basic curtain rod. I needed to cover a double window so was glad this came with the center support hook. My curtains are heavy and in hindsight I should have looked for a more 'substantial' rod but this will be fine for the lightweight curtains I use in summertime. January 12, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by E-Z to install! We used several sets of these rods as we opened our new home. After measuring for window opening coverage and level, these rods went up easily, connected easily and hold the window coverings and valences beautifully! Be cautious when you select the rods to ensure you have the right type of rod and the for the integrity of the packaginf. We found that a few of the rod sets were mismatched and missing parts. This is Home Depot's fault, and NOT the Manufacturer's. July 22, 2014
