Testing,
As far as we are aware, there should be three brackets included. One for each end and one for the middle. You can always check with your local Home Depot Store as well to make sure!

Answer:
The dip in the bracket to hold the rod starts at 4" from the wall. It does extend to 5" total but the remaining inch is for the rod to sit on.

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Value for the Money! My 37 year old daughter is learning to walk again after 18 months of being flat on her back (brain lesions). She will be coming home soon and I purchased this for what is going to be her room. She loves wizards, dragons and fantasy things like that so I thought I'd decorate her room with a grown up fantasy theme. I thought these looked like crystal balls so I bought it. She loves the picture I showed her. My son-in-law hung it but he said it was very easy to hang. The drywall anchors were more than he expected and the extension rod, while we didn't need it was a nice addition. It looks gorgeous on the window so much so that I'm not sure I really want to hang curtains from it! But I will. For the money it's a great rod. August 23, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not Easy! The box says the curtain rod is easy to assemble, but it's not! It was very difficult to work with the brackets included, and I could not screw them into the wall. However, it still looks beautiful, and I am hopeful that it will be durable. August 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice looking product, assembly challenging for plaster walls First off, I am a curtain novice. I read the directions that came with the rod and assembled all of the tools that were required. I decided to drill the holes for the center bracket first, and after measuring and leveling I had the holes perfect. The only catch was that the drywall screw supports would not go in— no matter what I tried. So I did some research and headed back to HD. I picked up 3 different kinds of screw supports, figuring that one would work. Luckily one did, it wasn’t a toggle bolt, but just an expanding plastic screw sleeve. Well, even if it worked the best, it still wasn’t easy to push the entire piece flush with the wall. A light tapping from the hammer made some bend and break. Once that was in place the rest of the assembly was no problem. The instructions are for drywall and wood. I tried just drilling the holes and placing the screws in the wall, but they were both the same size… August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Curtain Rod This curtain Rod is very easy to assemble and put up. Only took about 5 mins July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks decent It looks so decent and glossy when installed on the wall. Recommend to buy this May 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No assembly instuctions in box - how stupid of them No assembly instructions on how to assemble the rod's three pieces - the phone number Sushma gave in answer to a previous review is totally wrong (appliance purchase, order followup, credit card info are options - no human available to answer questions) - little pieces of plastic caps and soft caps are included - for what ? This product is pathetic - no assembly instructions - one small sheet of paper - how much money are you saving - how you are frustrating the person who brought this product - next time pint no assembly instructions on box December 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not that great Bulb is awkward and broke when installing home dept good about exchanging it. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loving it!!! I have seen similar ones to this but for double the prize. It looks beautiful and is really stable. November 10, 2015
