How do I use the 3rd bar in the kit, my window needs about 3 in more than 2 of the 3 bars allow but it seems the 3rd bar is identical to the larger diameter of the 2 bars with the ends pre-installed. I have to be missing something...

Thank you for your inquiry into the 72"-144" classic ball rod set. From what you are saying, you may have gotten a defective set as the balls on the ends should not be pre-installed. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice-sharp looking Very nice hardware with all pieces and quality construction. August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Got the job done. Got the job done. Easy to install (unless you're installing it at full length, by yourself) Looks good, and has held up for at least a month since I installed these. May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by does the job Very nice curtain rods. Appearance is important to me and these have a great look. Since I am using grommet ed curtains the rods will be shown and needed to be pretty. April 18, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Big Bump in MIddle that Curtains Get Caught On Where each end of the rod joins in the middle, there is a big bump, so the curtains get caught on this bump each time they are opened or closed. I tried transitioning the two rods with clear tape, but that doesn't work very well. Curtains still get hung up in the middle. December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Curtain Rods Rods look great and very easy to install - all hardware that is needed is included (screws and anchors). Just the look we wanted. October 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent buy The rod was easily installed and goes very good with our decor. September 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely and durable Used throughout a rental unit. Is durable and aesthetically appealing. September 9, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, easy. Most rod sets are MUCH too ornamental. Even this was a little much for me, but it's the least ornamental rod Home Depot sells. I should have realized a rod this long would require a support in the middle, though the instructions suggest you don't need one. Of the four they give you, which the instructions suggest putting at and near the ends, it's easy to place one of those in the center. But, of course, that means you can't pull the drapes all the way across, which is not much of a problem in our situation. I don't see the usefulness of following the instructions and putting 2 supports a few inches away from each other at the ends of the rod unless you think the supports are likely to fall off the wall. And that arrangement wastes several inches or rod at each end. March 15, 2015
