Is there a light kit available for this fan? And, if so, can somebody specify it for me? Thank you.

Asked by: David
Hampton Bay has a universal light kit that works with this fan. On the page for the fan, scroll down to "related items" and you should find it there.

Where are the dip switches in the fan?

Fan is Home Decorators Collection Altura 68" Fan keeps changing speeds or shutting off without input from the remote so I want to change the dip switches to eliminate possible outside interference. Found the ones in remote but haven't located in fan as yet
Asked by: Tom
If your fan is of a certain age (new) you will find the remote control unit (for the fan) in the bottom housing of the fan. This is the area where you would add a light to the fan. Remove the three (3) screws attaching this housing to the fan and remove the cover. You should see (inside the housing) a circular module with wires running up to a connector. This connector will be connected to the opposite gender connector from the fan. To make a long story short, there is no dip switch in, on, or around this unit. It is an automated sensor unit. In order to program this unit to whatever remote control with dip switch settings you have, you must disconnect the connector to the fan control unit and leave it off for about ten (10) or so minutes (this powers it down and drains the capacitors). Reconnect the connector to the module from the fan, press and hold the "off" button on your remote for about a slow count of five, then press any of the speed buttons to "program" the fan control unit to your remote. Any time the fan loses power this may be necessary particularly if you have more than one of these fans in your home. Older units shipped with a separate remote control receiver that also (like the remote) had dip switches. this module mounted inside the top fan mount housing and had an antenna sticking out of it to receive the remote transmission. These were much better than the new automated units though the receiver modules could be subject to failure if the voltage levels to which they connected contained spikes or high (higher than normal) voltage levels. I suspect that this change was the brain child of some electrical type who felt that the dip switch operation was too tough for the average consumer.
