Installed the 68" fan today, this baby is heavy, you might want to have a real fan box to hang it from.
Id also note, the drop for this, is for a 10' ceiling or taller. I installed on a 9' ceiling, which required some light modifying work.
My only complaint, with only have running it for a couple hours, the motor hums, and the hum is not constant, it has a frequency to it, up and down. Some might not notice it, Im almost deaf, but I can hear it. The irony, the box claims the fan has, and I quote " quiet motor technology plus ". Yeah, good thing it does, because if it didnt, it might be competing with your blender. And Im making reference to low speed, it just hums more as you turn up the speed.
This is an electromagnetic hum, not a machine vibrating hum. This thing is well balanced, not shaking or vibrating, but the motor hums, much like the sound of electricity coming from high power lines, just to be clear. This one might be defective, or they all might hum, dont know ?
Ive only owned Hunter brand ceiling fans in previous homes, including this one, and prefer the quality of the hunters, but i really like the style of this fan, I would have paid more $ for it, if it was of higher quality. Hunter does not sell anything that looks like this either, I looked.

Right out of the box, a beautiful piece of junk that does not work. It has one speed (pictured) which is stop. Power goes to receiver, fan does nothing. I am angry, so I am going to stop typing.

Bought 2 of these fans. One had to be replaced due to a motor burning out within 2 days of installing. The 2nd fan needed a new receiver that Home Depot has discontinued carrying. Ordering a new part took and hour on the phone and 2 weeks to get the replacement part.
Fan looks great but the inside is cr*p

Well I guess I know why it has a 90 day warranty because it's going to last about six months
I purchased it October 2015 and it has quit working altogether

This fan is absolutely quite it makes no noise of any kind. It is simple to install Bring in a hot wire there is a bracket that bolts either to a wood brace or to a secure electrical box. After attaching the bracket you screw the shaft into the motor assembly and there is a ball on the end of the shaft that fits into the bracket so you can hang the motor before connecting the wiring. Connect black to black and white to white and ground to ground then slide up a few brackets and attach the fan blades ( a simple process) At the bottom there is a recess inside is a electrical part that clips together Also a light not included can be attached . The fans runs by remote control 3 speeds. This is a beautiful looking fan.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Russdog Three Altura fans purchased...all lasted for two years and then died
These fans install easily, but use a proprietary remote control system. Installed three of these in our house, the receiver died on our bedroom fan first. Tried to find a replacement...no dice. Decided to see if I could figure out how to wire it with a generic one. No dice there either. The receiver has about 10 wires coming out of it, nothing like a universal. Sure enough as soon as I replaced the bedroom fan, our bonus room died...followed by the great room today. That one is 17 feet in the air...gonna be lots of fun to replace. I'll never buy another one of these fans.

This fan is beautiful, but has a very short life. It was not expensive, until you consider it was shipped to the Caribbean and we were taxed (not supposed to have been) in the U.S. then again in the Caribbean, and they charge tax on the total including the U.S. tax and the shipping charges! That would be fine if the fan worked a reasonable amount of time, but this worked less than a year after installation.
We tried the troubleshooting that we read about, but still will not turn on. Now we are back to ordering another fan, or in this case 2 regular size fans to be shipped to us. Guess we are going with old fashioned hunters that last forever!

We bought three of these fans and installed two in our bedroom (12' ceilings). The third one was going to go in a family room with a 9' ceiling. These fans need clearance from the ceiling so they will not mount up close. This said, you need a tall/vaulted ceiling to mount these. They look great and are good quality. The blades are real wood and not plastic that just looks like wood. They move a lot of air even at low speed.
Our contractors were cleaning up and threw away the fan boxes. Unfortunately our fan remotes were still in the boxes and we lost them. You cannot control these fans from a wall switch speed control since they do not have the appropriate wiring. Therefor we could not use our fans without replacement remotes. These use a remote that is a different frequency from most and replacement ones are impossible to find.
I emailed Home Decorators and they were worthless and referred me back to Home Depot even after I said I just wanted to buy replacements. Filled out something on the Home Depot website and someone called me within the hour. Even after explaining our situation, they mailed us replacement remotes and no charge.
