Does this post light plug into an outlet or do I need an electrician to run electricity to it? Also, can it be installed on top of dirt or does it have to be installed on concrete or some other solid surface?
Thanks,

If you do not know how to attach a plug to the wires, you would need an electrician or a handy person to hook up the light to electricity. I am not sure how you would install this light on dirt since it is top heavy and does not stand alone. You would have to mount it on a heavy base and then it could stand upright on the dirt. If the floor is concrete, the manufacturer does provide you with bolts to mount the light into place. Read Less

Hi EJLopez34,
This lamp is designed for a permanent installation and must be secured to a concrete foundation.
Electrical connections will have to be done by a professional electrician.

Answer:
Yes,but only if you wire it to a photo-sensitive switch programmed to control it that way. Alternately, wire it to an ordinary switch, turn on at sun-down, off at sun-up!

This lamp does not come with an electric cord, We ran power to the pole and had a sensor and an outlet installed. The sensor does control the light coming on at dusk and off at dawn. Hope this helps

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 63 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Lamp post I purchased this online and received it the next day. We did all the wiring ourselves - and the hardest part was getting the individual sections together once the wires were snaked through. Once done though - it looks great. Only suggestion if you don't want to light up the whole neighborhood - I suggest using 25 watt bulbs - not 60 or 100 - we switched them out after it looked like a beacon! August 23, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Buyer Beware Lamp post has a nice look to it and is not hard to assemble. If you decide to purchase this post, BE SURE TO BUY YOUR OWN ANCHOR BOLTS. The "Anchor Bolts" that come with this can also be found in most popular kids Fisher Price toy sets. These 4 inch sleeved twigs will slip out of any concrete mix you set them in. I am at the point where I just want to rip the 4 bags of concrete out of the ground, bring it back to HD and be done with it. BUY YOUR OWN ANCHOR BOLTS! October 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Accurate description This is my second Light. The first one was knocked down when a trailer was backed into it. Great looking lamp. The three bulbs put out a lot of light. Great value for the money!! Easy to install. I poured a small concrete slab and sunk the three bolts right in the concrete!! October 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! I just knew this lamp post was going to work and while putting it up in the front yard our neighbor drove by and stopped to say how great it looked and it does. Love it! October 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Lights not attached to base very well. Flimsy. Light fixtures not secured very well, and wobble - afraid what will happen in high winds, or heavy snow. Time will tell. May be returning to buy a more secure light fixture. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful lsmp We bought our first lamp for the front yard. Extra security. We bought this lamp for the backyard for the light and the decorative aspect a lamp adds. It was very easy to put together and looks great. October 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by crooked pole The lamp is cute but the pole is crooked. Was told would have to bring it to Home Depot to exchange. That would involve taking out the dusk to dawn switch, undoing the electrical then redoing it to replace it all. My husband said it is too much work. I noticed after we put ours up two neighbors in the front of the developement have the same crooked lamp. It is crooked from the middle pole to the top pole. March 21, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Needs improvement This product arrived just fine, was well protected for shipping. But what I didn't like was the way the three lantern heads bolted to the post. There must be a better way or maybe I was missing some hardware? Because after assembly the lantern heads weren't very snug. Also the metal is cheap and thin. September 16, 2016
