I'd pay extra to have the canvas seat and seat back included. What a pain to have to figure out how to buy separately.

It took forever for the chairs to be shipped and when I opened the boxes the seats and back were not in the box which makes the chair unusable.

Basically easy to assemble, except the folding metal piece had to really be stepped on with a hard sole shoe to put into place.
Once the foot rest is on, chair is not foldable and the foot rest, once assembled feels flimsy because it is held by a screw on 1 side and the other side is just a peg in the hole.
I got the black frame, but the metal pieces are gold, would've been nice to be all black for uniformity.
The only tool I needed was a screw driver which was good.
All-in-all I am still happy with the purchase and it is a beautiful, well produced product.
The real review will have to be made after multiple uses over time as I just got it and is brand new!

I was disappointed that the director's chair did not come with the seat and back covers. It did state on the website description that it did not include these but the print was not large enough nor was this stressed that it was the frame only. So I had to place a separate order for the back and seat. This seems dumb to me that it was not a complete chair ready to go once assembled. Because these were not included it was not as great a value as I originally thought and I probably would not have purchased it. But once it arrived and I had to spend another $15.00 shipping for the other pieces, I was satisfied.

These chairs were for a birthday present and seem to be pretty sturdy. However, we had a hard time getting the chair to completely open up. I had to stand on the clasps to get it to open. Now we don't think we will be able to close them for transport. They had some scratches which I fixed by using black paint. It would have been too much of a pain to send them back because they would have had scratches somewhere else. Also, they are not painted evenly. For our purposes, they are fine but I wouldn't put them in my house -- they are for my son's apartment. The steps are also iffy for closing.

I purchased the director's wood frame collection during the end of summer sale because of the different possibilities it had to offer. Even though it has a movie set look, it is perfect for cottage homes. I can also replace the picnic table benches for the director's chairs for a totally different look and feel. They are perfect for weddings parties and picnics in the park. The striped canvas seat and back gives it the cottage beach look and feel, and the solid seat and back will give it a more tonal look and feel.

I wanted this stool to take to my son's bowling competitions for school. There is limited seating at the bowling alleys and I wanted something that raised me and that I could sit during these meets. I searched for a reasonably priced stool but yet looked like it was durable. I am absolutely satifisfied with this chair, it is made of good quality and made to be compact. The only thing that I wish was made differently is the step you rest your feet is not made to go on and off easily (you need to screw it on) but love the chair.

The footrest holes were drilled on the wrong side of the chair so we had to reverse the arms by unscrewing and re positioning them. The heads of the bolts that hold on the footrest broke as soon as we put the slightest pressure on them. we had to replace the bolts with what we had at home. In order to fold for storage you need to remove the foot rest.
