Customer Questions & Answers

Can I move my large refrigerator across the floor after installation?

Asked by: Katy
Yes, but be very careful. I would suggest putting it on a dolly cart to move it or on a soft blanket to help move it to protect the floor. Try not to slide it too far because any tiny particles on the floor could scratch the floor.

Glueing

I understand you don't have to glue this down to the sub-floor (just use an underlayment and it "floats"#. But, I have read that you DO have to glue the ends of the boards due to fact the pices don't truely snap together, rather the ends lay on top of each other? Can you elaborate on this? Is it really necessary? Is this really how the pieces go together? What kind of glue can be used #standard wood glue#? Have to do this over the entire floor, or just certain places?
Asked by: Eric
Yes, your correct the manufacturer does recommend the Roberts 1407 glue for the end joint application. It is sold is most Home Depot stores .The 1 galloon bucket retails for approximately 27.98

Concerned about what people have said about this floor being "noisy" - is it creaking or is it just the noise you get with any wood floor when there was carpet or other soft surface there before?
Asked by: AJ
No more noisy than ANY other laminate flooring. Utilized FloorMuffler for under lament.

Accessories

Are there any accessories? We need something with a finished edge for a couple of areas.
Asked by: Michele
Pay attention to height limitations on any transition pieces you might buy. The one I originally purchased through HD had a max height of 12mm. Since I installed a 3mm underlayment, and wanted the track in direct contact with the subfloor (no underlayment in between), the product didn't work for my application. I did find another product at another home improvement store that maxed out at 15mm with an included spacer, and the color match was spot on. In addition, it was a 4-in-1 product that could be used in a variety of applications (lam to lam, lam to carpet, lam to hard surface, etc), so it was more versatile.

I had an independent contractor install this floor 2-1/2 years ago to replace carpet in my three bedrooms. I have not had any issues with crackling, scratching, warping or other negative outcomes. However, I do not have dogs, and my children are in their 20's, not prone to playing with their toys on the floor! So perhaps my floor doesn't take the hardest abuse. I have had a small amount of water spilled on it which actually sat for a couple of days with no effect on the floor. The contractor put a thick underlayment as a base for the floor which has kept it quiet, and after installation, he put felt pads on the bottom of all furniture used in those rooms to keep them from scratching/denting. But the floor does feel very durable and it looks beautiful. I am very pleased with the color and the wood grain. As far as laminate goes, I am very happy with this floor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Home Depot should not sell this product! We tried to install this floor during our kitchen remodel and were confronted with similar problems as many. 1. The joints do not lock together! 2. The floor is impossible to install "correctly." 3. The joints do not lock (this bears repeating!) We began installing and noticed the short edge joints never really fit together, didn't lock, and had a sharp edge sticking up. We installed about 3/4 of the floor because we just figured that's how it is supporsed to be. Then our contractor came to install cabinets and pointed out the problem and failure of the floor. So...we pulled it up and returned it! Home Depot is doing a great disservice to its customers by still selling this product. They should remove it from the shelves ASAP!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful & Durable Flooring! I bought this flooring in March 2015. Installed it myself while my husband was out of town. Prior experience isn't needed, you can find sooo many good aids online that will give easy to follow instructions on how to work around doorways. Its a very durable product! We have 3 large dogs over 70 lbs each and this floor doesn't show it! Not to mention how clean it always looks, even when it's not! Planning on redoing our dining room with it soon...

I am a licence general contractor of 25 years and have installed hundreds of laminate floors. This flooring is without a doubt the worst flooring I have ever installed. It looks good but it crackles loudly with every step! The other reviewers must have submitted their reviews within the first few days of install because it seems fine until you have walked on it for a few day. Since installing this flooring I have talked to three other contractors who said the same thing about this floor. KEEP AWAY FROM THIS FLOOR, you will end up replacing it within a month!

Having no prior experience installing a laminate hardwood floor, I did my due diligence before pulling the trigger, E.g. YouTube, manufacture's website, etc. I rely heavily on product reviews and was hesitate to purchase this particular laminate flooring considering the 3 1/2 star reviews. This floor was a breeze to install in two separate walk-in closets in our master bedroom. I used a laminate flooring blade on my jigsaw to make all rips and cuts of these boards with no problems whatsoever, just a bit more time consuming going the jigsaw route. The hardest part is getting your measurements right for the last row and getting the board to sit in the tongue and grove properly. I did have to use a laminate flooring pull bar to get the last board to sit properly in the last closet. Compliments all around on the look of the finished flooring, I highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! My wife and I installed around 900 square feet of this in no time. I have installed many different types of laminate flooring, but this by far was the easiest. I was concerned after reading the reviews, but we had no trouble at all. It's a beautiful floor, we love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it! This floor is amazing. It looks rustic and real for a laminate product. We chose this flooring because we have three large dogs. After six months, the floor has no sign of damage or scratches from the dogs. We hired Home Depot installers to do the installation. They did an amazing job and said this was one of the better products that they have put down. We had several different subfloors that they laid the floor, and you can't tell one bit. I highly recommend this product for the price. My only complaint is a creaking/cracking noise when you walk on it. Very typical of this type of flooring.
