Edison 40 in. Convertible Media Console Electric Fireplace in Heritage is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet Fireplace !! LOOKS REAL! The Unit is overall a good buy. The box is very big, you will need a van/suv/truck to get this thing home. Its also 150+ lbs so you will need a buddy to help you lift it. I had the fireplace shipped to my house. Some of the wood pieces were chipped. but it was on the back side of the fireplace so it did not bother me. I began assembly, It took me about 1hr for me to assemble it. I will recommend nice screw gun and a stubby Phillips screwdriver to make things go faster. This unit is overall great, It gives you the choice to use different wall combinations either a corner wall setup or flat wall setup.. The electric fireplace is great it creates a nice look and feel and is very realistic. The heater works exceptionally well and generates a nice amount of heat for its size (and is very quite). After all assembled the fireplace unit looks AMAZING!! Its a excellent center piece and ties everything in the living room together. Aside from the small issues I would recommend this to anyone looking for a media center and a sweet fireplace. A+

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice design, decent simulated flame, remote control, media shelf This is a convertible unit, which can be used straight against a wall, or converted with the addition of a piece of wood filler (supplied) to be a corner unit. Remote (very compact size) controls simulated flame on/off and intensity level, and heater is controlled via the remote which sets temperature and heat on/off. Unit is easy to assemble, pieces align via dowels and secured with machine screws and washers. Unit comes setup for a media shelf above the main unit, but you can assemble without the shelf (see photo). Flame simulator is decent, as good as most electric units I've seen. Nice finish on the wood and the unit is very sharp looking when assembled. Media shelf opening is 29 inches. Height of unit is 39 inches with shelf. A nice way to add a heater to a room, and provide a cozy feel. Media shelf increases functionality. I am placing a 47 inch LED TV on the top of the unit to create a nice overall entertainment center that also heats the room!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I'm disappointed With so many positive reviews I hate to be the wet blanket but I must have gotten the unit that was built on a Friday afternoon. I rarely give negative reviews but I feel this one was earned. If you lookup "Poor Quality Control" in the dictionary there should be a picture of this fireplace. I did, finally get it assembled, but it took a bit of remanufacturing. I'm 67 years old and I've assembled a ton of knockdown furniture in my lifetime and I think this one required the most modifications to get everything to fit properly. Here's what I found. It arrived well packaged with plenty of plastic wrap, Styrofoam and cardboard reinforcements. It's very heavy at 133 pounds. I unpacked the pieces and compared the parts to the packing inventory, everything was there. Two of the panels had small nicks and four of them had scuff marks in the finish where they rubbed against the Styrofoam packing. As I began assembly I noticed that all the factory installed screws were loose, two of them were stripped out and two were missing completely. The loose screws were probably due to the wood drying out and shrinking post assembly. The stripped screws were due to over-tightening. These I fixed with a bit of construction adhesive and a toothpick in the hole. The missing screws were easy enough to replace. Assembly requires using supplied wooden dowels. Unfortunately, the factory drilled these holes too deeply for the dowels to mate with the adjoining piece. I cut some dowel rod I had and glued these into the holes so the new dowels would only sink to half there length. Part letter "L" requires two dowel holes on the same side as the mounting blocks. They drilled the holes on the wrong side or they mounted the blocks on the wrong side. I opted to drill two holes where they need to be. Doesn't anyone inspect this stuff? Finally, the threaded insert for cross-piece "G" was installed a full 3/8" higher than where it was suppose to be. I couldn't move the insert so I had to drill a new hole to align with it. The firebox installed without incident and works as advertised. The remote uses a CR2025 battery which is inexpensive and readily available. I'm a puzzle junky and enjoy a good challenge but I wonder if "Joe Average", after spending over $500, will enjoy the challenge. My experience with this product is that it's below average at this price point so I can't recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful. Quality construction. Easy to assemble. Serves double-duty as a media console and functional heat source My Edison 40-inch Media Console Electric Fireplace was delivered in a single large box containing extremely well-packaged mantel components and a 23-inch Pleasant Hearth electric firebox. The shipping box is large and weighty so plan on having someone assist you with getting in into the house. The fireplace requires assembly of the panels, except for the base which is pre-assembled in the box. The included instructions are well-written, describing with adequate detail, each step in the assembly process. Each panel is alphabetically labeled and corresponds to illustrations appearing in the written instructions. The fireplace is constructed of wood and furniture-grade medium-density fiberboard with a beautiful, warm Heritage veneer finish that coordinates well with my traditional decor. Deeply fluted panels flank each side of the firebox while decorative crown and base moldings dress up the mantel and base. The quality of construction is excellent, with pre-drilled holes lining up perfectly with the pre-installed threaded metal inserts. The panels are fastened together with dowels and Phillips head machine screws with washers. I completed assembly in about 1-1/2 hours at a relaxed pace. A second person would have shaved some time off of that. Although not called for in the instructions, and not included, I used a good quality wood glue to ensure the panels and trim requiring dowels remain joined and trouble-free for years to come. A medium Phillips head screwdriver is the only tool required for assembly. Although the shipping box and interior styrofoam and cardboard packing was in excellent condition, showing great care in packing, with no visible signs of impact, the fireplace suffered minor damage such that one corner of the mantel shelf was dented. The damage was minor and was easily masked with an appropriately colored furniture marker. The damage looks much worse in the photo than in person. There also was a piece missing on the corner extension, which I don’t plan to use, but the damage could be repaired with a glob of wood putty or hidden by a decorative runner. Despite having to fasten together nearly every panel of the fireplace, assembly was extremely easy. The written instructions were well-detailed and contained helpful illustrations. The styling of this fireplace, with its flat front and warm Heritage veneer finish coordinates well with my traditional décor. A shelf above the firebox provides a space to house media equipment (cable box, DVR, DVD, etc.) and peripherals. The firebox sits flush with the mantel allowing the fireplace to be placed tightly against a wall. This fireplace also includes an extension and support for installation in a corner. The firebox installs easily from the rear and is held in place by two metal angle brackets. The firebox produces a realistic flame, with an ember bed that glows brightly underneath logs that are intricately arranged to provide the appearance of burning cut wood. The fireplace can be used with or out without the heater/fan for all season use. The heater/fan is more audible than I expected, but heat is produced quickly and pushed into the room. My firebox was making a scraping sound, so I removed the 3 screws holding the back panel and noticed the foil spindle was not properly seated on one side, such that it was scraping the back panel as it rotated. Properly seating the spindle was the fix. Multiple heat and flame settings allow me to fully-customize the ambiance and heat output, while a timer ensures the fireplace won’t be left on all night or when no one is home to enjoy it. The remote control adds convenience. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this fireplace. I have always liked the warm and inviting glow of a fireplace. It looks great in my space and serves double-duty as a media console and functional heat source. I'm looking forward to the colder weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Fireplace! Goes together in a snap!!! Having put together many pieces of "easy to assemble" furniture in the past, I was pleasantly surprised when the fireplace went together in less than a half hour using basic tools. The wooden cabinet is jointed with pegs, then bolts together securely. The firebox is one unit that simply inserts into the back of the cabinet and is secured to the base, When lit, it adds ambiance to the room/ It comes with a fully functional remote to control the fireplace, and the user can control the lighting, the timer (up to nine hours) and the temperature. We didn't test it for the maximum heating capability, but we did turn it up and the heat came up quickly. We're looking forward to trying it out more on the cooler fall nights that are coming. It's a worthy addition to any room and compliments the decor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Fireplace with Timer- Heats up to 400 sq. ft.- Extension cord not recommended! This was delivered to me in perfect condition. The assembly was very easy, all you need is a Phillips screw driver and the directions, which are easy to follow. I wanted to place this fireplace against a wall with the closest outlet being 4 feet away, however after reading the information about the extension cord not being recommended, I decided to move the unit to another wall that had an outlet right behind where the fireplace would be. If you must use an extension cord, the manufacturer recommends that "the cord be number 14 AWG minimum size and rated not less than 1875 Watts. Also, it must be a three wire cord with grounding type plug and cord connection. Lastly, the extension cord should not be longer than 20 feet. Electric heaters should be plugged directly into the wall outlet. If an extension cord is necessary, use the shortest possible heavy-duty cord of 14-gauge wire or larger". Electric heaters in general should not use an extension cord due to fire hazard as they can overheat. I tried to find an extension cord that meets those requirements and couldn't find one that is shorter than 20 feet. I'm thinking it would be one similar to cords used in generators but shorter. Once my fireplace was in a perfect location with an outlet right behind it, I felt safe to turn it one and start enjoying it. This is in my finished basement because it's always cold down there and wanted to make it more cozy. The remote is so cool, it has a timer on it. The timer starts with 30 minutes minimum, then it jumps to the hour and every hour up to 9 hours. I like having a timer because sometimes I just want to turn it on for a few hours to heat up and don't have to remember to go turn it off. The flame is nice, so realistic. The unit looks like it's made of real wood, the quality is really good. I smelled the wood stain the entire time I was putting it together, too much actually but it could be because I was in the basement and there is little ventilation. The unit heats up fairly quickly, it went from 67F to 70F in only a few minutes. Everything worked perfectly, I love the look and how it performs. Keep in mind this is suitable for small rooms, it only heats up to 400 sq. ft.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a perfect experience After reading the prior reviews we expected an easy put together. It was up to the point where holes didn't line up and holes with missing inserts. My guys spent close to an hour to find a solution which they finally did. The cabinet came with two places where the paint was seriously chipped but I'll come up with matching paint. The cabinet looks sharp and the firebox is quiet which was one of my initial concerns. I don't like the panel insert with all the holes cut out and wish they had included a more solid option for those of us that only need the one opening. All in all we're happy with the cabinet and would do it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Over all this is a great choice when it comes to imitation fire places. It was very easy to put together and all of the holes lined up, just right vs. previous comments that they had to drill new holes and what not. I feel like if you take your time and are handy this is a very simple and elegant way to bring a fireplace into your home. Also the Quality is GREAT in my opinion because it is made of real wood not that glue board garbage. Great product, would recommend to anyone!
