We really like this bamboo window shade. It is super easy to put up, light weight, but sturdy enough to be used for a long time. We put it up on our door to the back patio. It gets used a lot, and is on a door that faces the hot western sun. I like being able to simply pull the cord to let in light, or put it down at night for privacy. We will see how it keeps heat out in the summer, as it gets very hot here. The sun does shine through the shade some. I added a couple of small metal dowels to the bottom of the shade, so that it can be attached to brackets on the bottom of the door when we don't want it to swing around when the door is opened and closed. We will be investing in more of the shades for a few other windows and doors. Great addition!

I tried out the Natural color bamboo shades. I liked the color as it is a natural unfinished, light wood. In fact, it even smelled nice out of the box.
The size I received was 23 In. x 72 In. If you are doing an inside mount, be sure you get the right size (not close, but exact). Otherwise, go with a larger size and do an outside mount (or order custom). You don't want gaps on an inside mount.
Because my shade was very long and narrow (23x72) when the shade was fully extended, it seemed to curve or be wavy at the very bottom. It did not sit straight. I tried to pull it down to get it to straighten out. Hopefully it will settle in over the next few days and hang out straight. I think that the Bottom Rail is just not heavy enough for a shade of this length. If you had different proportions (say 48x72) it would probably be OK.
The directions were basic. All hardware mounting parts were included. Be sure to predrill pilot holes as the screws are terrible. It will take a little longer than it seems due to the unusual wingnut bracket install. I needed a power driver with extension bit.
There was an ugly plastic warning label on the back of the shade. I had to use scissors to cut it off.
The 6 inch valance and the wooden tassels are a nice touch. Also, on the back of the shade, the cords are encased in a cloth sleeve.
The shades raised and lowered nicely, and folded at the top. Very smooth mechanisms.
If you're on a budget, a shade like this, in a different size, might work. It has some potential.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HouseStuff The blinds seem great
We outfitted our home with these and will only use them for the top half of the windows, accenting the cafe style half plantation shutters on the bottom. These blinds seem just like the high end, much more expensive style that HD also sold. I couldn't tell a functional difference. Only problem with these if you are buying many of them is that they seem to all come from different batches of construction. Some will have white string covers on the back others will be tan. Also, some assemblies will contain the hardware to join the pull strings together and others will not. All together, a good buy and style for much cheaper than custom made. They are NOT light proof--you will be able to see through them, if this is a concern. Some were more wrinkled than others but we found after a few days the wrinkles fell out OK. Very easy to install..about 5-10 minutes per window with a cordless drill.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JuliusCaesar Good diffuser. No night privacy.
These shades do a good job of blocking direct sunlight but allowing plenty of ambient light in, especially in a sunroom. They were much more transparent than I expected, making the fabric stitching on the back side clearly visible when backlit. This also means that when viewed from outside at night when inside lights are on, you can clearly see inside. Otherwise, the quality is fine and there are metal rings for the chord guides that won't deteriorate from UV like cheaper models. Brackets allow for mounting inside window frame or in front like curtains.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RWH attractive product - helps privacy
What a nice product. I love the tone and colors of this blind! We are actually using it on an upstairs balcony porch on a side of our house that is somewhat close to a neighbor. They're nice people, but we want to be able to feel a little privacy when we relax on the balcony. Since its winter we are not out there a lot yet, but the privacy is already improved.

I mainly wanted to compare the difference between this shade, the honey bamboo roman shade, and the expresso fine-weave bamboo shade.
As far as the thickness and the spacing of the bamboo on the shade, the honey has the thickest strands and largest spacing; both expresso bamboo shades are of the same size but the multi-weave shade has a little more spacing than the fine-weave shade. Also the fine-weave and the regular bamboo shades seem to have more "finished" vertical sides than the multi-weave shade.
I also noticed a color difference between the two expresso shades; the multi-weave was a bit lighter/cooler expresso tone and the fine-weaver was darker/warmer expresso tone. Also, the manufacturer was so kind to send me two of these multi-weave shades (thank you :) ) and there was a slight color difference between the two multi-weave shades; this might be just natural "defects" with the bamboo - not an issue for me but could be for others.
Installation was the same for all the shades - straightforward and easy. I recommend opening and closing the blinds before hanging them to release any kinks if any are present.
