Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Happy would by another one if... I'm happy with my purchase but I would not have bought at regular price. Had a coupon and with free shipping I save about $100 of the current regular price. Would by another one to balance out the room if I could do so at the same price. I'm concerned about the durability of the finish and the pseudo glass door is loose and a little bit messy when looking from the inside. But for the price I paid is acceptable and it is packaged well to survive the tribulations of transit. Box took a beating, ups does not treat heavy items kindly, but it still arrive unscathed (looking at the box you might wonder). January 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Happy with purchase It arrived well-packed with clear assembly instructions. One of the shelves has a nick in it, but this can be concealed rather easily and it is not visible when the doors are shut. One complaint is that the included hardware was of poor quality. Luckily, I had some left over from assembly of Provence series pieces (hardware of excellent quality) and was able to use them to construct the bookshelf. It took about 3 hours for two of us to assemble. We had no problems with the doors. They sit well. I took advantage of a great sale price and would recommend this piece to a friend only if they could do the same as the piece overall is not too sturdy. It looks nice enough in place, but I'm not sure that it would survive a move. April 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Bookcase Option - Not for China I originally purchased this bookcase as a possible substitute for a more expensive cabinet from another vendor, and although it looks nice and was relatively easy to put together... it ended up not being a workable solution to display my crystal and china as the depth of the shelf was too similar to one of the bowls. However, if you were looking for a great bookcase with doors to minimize the dust and debris that collects - this is the item for you. I'll be relocating to my bedroom to use to store my purses and accessories, so everything worked out in the end. December 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It really looks lovely I really am impressed with this cabinet. From the way it was packed to the relative ease of putting it together I am very pleased with this purchase. It took me just about 2 hours to put it together by myself, and as another reviewer said it would be easier to install the doors with someone helping. With some carefully stacked items to support the doors while I was attaching them to the frame everything worked great. I have it in my kitchen displaying some fine dishware and my flying pig collection. Yay! I see way less pig dusting in my future. December 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nice look The box is really heavy. The glass doors significantly increase the weight of the product. They use some of the locking screw mechanisms so common with this type of furniture. The hardware can bend a bit. However, they seem sturdy and look quite good. If you have a hard time with assembly this may not be the greatest choice for you. There is a fair amount of assembling to do. I wanted something that looked good and could hold heavy books without breaking the bank. That is exactly what I got. May 6, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks good The overall appearance is good. However, after completing the assembly, we noticed that the frame around the left glass door front is slightly warped at the bottom and doesn't close flush with the right side of the door....thus leaving a small gap at the bottom. But because we are only using the cabinet to store our DVD collection, we decided to just live with it instead of going through the hassle of returning it. September 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful but not as... The bookshelves are beautiful, well made, fairly easy to assemble and very elegant. They are not the bookshelves I REALLY wanted, but what I had to settle for since the ones I wanted were discontinued, but still on the web site. I did appreciate the apologetic, 1% of the order discount, to use on this order. The instructions are incorrect telling you to put dowels where there was no hole, and not telling you to put them in the first intersection where they are needed. The six shelf design is great if you need it for paper backs, with real books you can only utilize 4 shelves and have a lot of empty unused space. It does what I need it to, protect my books from dust as the leather and gold gilding look great under glass and not dulled by dust. Bring back the Barrister design in classic cherry and I will shop again. May 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice piece of furniture! It took about four hours for me to put it together myself--I'm a 5'3" female--it was pretty heavy and I got frustrated with it at times but in the end I was VERY pleased with the way it came out. It looks, to me anyway, like a much more expensive piece than it is. Now I don't have to dust my books off anymore! :) I guess the only "downside" was that a couple of the shelves had a little cracking on the edges. Once I put them in the bookcase, though, you couldn't see it at all and it didn't change the end result. January 29, 2013
