Answer:
You should get 35" because in real they are 34-1/2" even thought the packaging says 35" and will fit your window correctly.

stretch,
Thanks for the question! If the window width is 35" and you are mounting this inside the window frame, then yes you should buy the 35" wide blind. The finished size of the Home Decorators Collection 35 in. X 64 in. 2 in. Wood Blind Golden Oak will be 34.5" wide. This will allow the blind to operate within the window frame.

Answer:
Well I am no expert but are you talking the window itself - just the glass - or is that with the trim around it . I would make sure the glass is covered and then leave a little trim showing unless you dont like your trim or feel you need extra privacy.

I see here that this blind comes in a 72 inch. If I need one smaller than that (slightly less than 71") am I out of luck?

I have a window that is 71 inches...possibly even a tad bit smaller. I am planning on putting these blinds throughout the house and this one window is the only one that doesn't seem to be in the right size.

Anastasia,
You can shorten the length yourself. The Home Decorators Collection 35 in. X 64 in. 2 in. Wood Blind Golden Oak will come with instructions on how to shorten the length. However, since the length of the blind can be adjusted with the lift control, you may just want to rise the bottom rail to the desired length.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Real Wood Blinds by Home Decorator Collections I bought these blinds for our rental house and they warped, the ends bend upward and look funny. I checked the warranty and they do not have one for warping, also home depot would not return them after 90 days. I called the manufacturer and they will not compensate, they were $78 per blind. This is poor customer service. I would be careful if you buy them. June 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap Appearance I purchased the product because the pictures made it look like a quality product that effectively shuttered the window and looked good when mounted inside the frame. What I got were two assemblies that look very little like the sales photo. The valences are warped and do not obscure light admitted by the gap between bottom of the headrail and the top slat. The bottom of the headrail is exposed because the valence does not extend far enough below the headrail. This gives the assembly a particularly cheap appearance, not visible in the HD picture and the gap allows reflected light from the bottom of the headrail to be visible at the top of the window. The "valence return clips" are plastic dressings that did not match up well colorwise to the woody valence. My take-away from the experience: I can't depend on Home Depot's advertising to accurately reflect what the product looks like in order to make a purchasing decision. February 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Window Coverings These are excellent, low cost, window coverings. We used them in our guest house at the ranch and they look great. They were ease to install and went up quickly. Would recommend them to all. February 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Satisfied! Product seems to be well-made. All parts needed for installation are included in the box. The installation manual is helpful but cannot beat the clarity of instructions found in the web, particularly YouTube. The only tricky part is the installation of the crown molding, but once the installer figures out the trick, it becomes straightforward. April 22, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Strong odor We recently installed these blinds in our home.I have no problem with the quality of these blinds nor was the installation a problem. The problem is the odor coming off the blinds. They smell like something stored in a damp basement. After my husband hung the blinds I came home to this odor,I would never have let him hang the blinds if I had been there because he said he could smell the odor as soon as he opened the box.We decided to leave them up for three days to see if the odor would dissipate. They still smell and will be going back to the store.Gave a two because of ease of installation and value July 12, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice blind I really like the blinds. They look good and function fairly well. I don't care for the way the notched slats slide around if you raise and lower them. The cord keeper on them is plastic and broke after a week. Other than those 2 issues they work fine. August 18, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product, Easy to Install This is a basic window blind that is easy to install and looks nice. I've placed the same blinds in several rooms of the house, starting 4 years ago in the guest bedroom to see how they install and look. They are easy to install, look nice, and those installed in that guest BR 4 years ago look the same as the day they were installed. The blinds themselves are very thin but seem durable enough--but you might think about a thicker product for a south facing window that receives full sun--not sure (that guest BR mentioned above is in a south facing window but it's shaded and as I said is holding up just fine). I have now done a total of 7 windows with these blinds and I'm pleased with all of them. February 27, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Eh Somewhat low quality construction. The individual slats aren't secured in any way to the strings. I am constantly readjusting the slats b/c they are about to slide out. Also, removing excess slats was overly and needlessly complicated. Overall quality was cheap. September 16, 2014
