Hamiltonbookcase honey oak by Casual Home Ltd Thailand made 7/15/2014 pO#7370072 sold by Home Decorators Collection no. 2649420580 size 13 x 30x 64 a 5 shelf unit carton 34 of 50 is a second rate product sold as expensive DIY assembly bookcase. One top brace part-D did not have all holes drilled so I had to sink drill the remaining holes. Wood glue required to ensure steady solid content holding since parts-E back braces did not fit back panel slots; lower shelf support braces did not mount flush against sides A, B so bolts 10187 pulled wood screws 10003 out of bottom shelf when bolts were tightened; lower cover panel part J attaches with plastic dowels that also require wood glue to hold cover panel in place. Back panels are pressboard and do not match honey oak color of sides/top; not much better than a Kmart/Target product, saved only by wood glue and woodworking skills during 2.5 hour assembly. Overall not worth the $200 cost per unit paid.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Karenfree Saving our Books!
We moved to an old home over a year ago and we had a few hundred books and no place to store them. They have been on the floor in stacks. Purchasing the wide tall Hamilton Bookcase saved our books. They were beginning to show some mildew damage. After setting up the bookcase we were able store many of our more current books, then clean and decorate the built in bookshelf beside the fireplace where we keep Hemingway and Louis Lamoure volumes. Our antique glass front law bookshelf holds all the Classics from Dickens to Faulkner. We have only one small box of books that will go in our bedroom once we locate an oak two shelf bookcase for under the window!

I got this item on sale, and the materials are what I had hoped for: mostly solid wood, with very little particle board. It was quite difficult to assemble, though. The selves were too short and we had to buy additional hardware to make them work. The finish scratched very easily, so we had to buy stain to cover the scratches. Once assembled, it looked ok, but we had to sink some wood screws to make it steady. If this had been full price I would have sent it back, but for the sale price it was an ok value, as all I got were the materials and pattern.

Ordered two of these bookshelves for my new library. They look nice, but unfortunately when assembled there is a 1/2 inch gap between the bottom shelf and the bottom board. Once the bookshelves are filled they will not be moved and this gap will be a definite cleaning issue. I am not happy with it and if they weren't already assembled they would be returned.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JustMe7 For the sale price, it's worth it.
The bookcase looks very nice once assembled. However the craftsmanship is not great. The bottom panel that is placed across, the front at the floor level does not fit well, and there is a gap between that and the bottom shelf as a result. Also, there are 2 metal brackets for the backside but only 2 of 4 holes are drilled so I drilled the other 2 holes to prevent a future split in the frame of the book case. For the sale price, it is worth it to me.

Easy to build, and love the final outcome. It's perfect. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

We ordered two of these bookshelves and one arrived flawlessly while the other damaged. Strap marks, dings, and scratches.
Assembly was tough on the first but once we knew the system, second one easier. The gap on the bottom trim is annoying but like I said you get what you pay for.
Next furniture purchase will be from a store who will take back any damaged goods.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy101 Good Deal
Hamilton Bookcase was a good deal for the money. Materials were better than some bookcases at two times the cost. Assembly took about 2.5 to 3 hours. Solid wood shelves, and finish was fair. I would purchase again.
Care should be taken in shipping as it is easy to damage due to weight. I did add some additional bracing to strengthen the design.
I would recommend .
