does this floor scratch easily

Wondering about how this would hold up with two cats running around on it
Asked by: Hotflash
We installed ours in October in a rural home - 2 cats, a large dog, kids and mud! A quick spritz with water and Murphy's Oil soap, dust mp, and good as new.

Can this be used over radiant floor heat?

Asked by: Mbi52
Not recommended because any moisture that gets in will then be heated and absorbed in the flooring. Eventually it will swell and buckle. Having said that, it is pretty tough stuff and the glue (Roberts 1509, 1509R is the same) says it can be used over radiant floor. It also forms a decent seal. Just be careful about water. Clean it up quickly. For our kitchen I made sure to caulk the baseboard so no spills would seep into ends.

May I use nails for installation instead of glue? What's the pros and cons? also How can I avoid gaps in winter after installation? Thanks very much.
Asked by: Ivan
The cons of using nail down for this floor is that bamboo floor is very hard; like with other very hard wood floors, if the nails are too thick it will cause 'beading' on top of the floor, or split the tounge. This is why glide down installation is recommended

can this floor(1/2 in solid tongue and groove) be glued at the seams and floated instaed of glued to subfloor
Asked by: jl
It can be, although not recommended for this floor; if you would like to float the floor, we do have an engineered version which has a click lock floating glueless system.

Hand Scraped Strand Woven Sandbrook 1/2 in. T x 5-1/8 in. W x 72-7/8 in. L Solid Bamboo Flooring (25.89 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This floor is awesome! We laid 670sqft of this stuff throughout our kitchen and dining area. We installed ourselves with borrowed hardwood flooring tools (had never done it before) so it took some time to figure out the best system to install but once we did it came together nicely. We love the texture and color variation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable & beautiful We bought our home knowing that all of the existing flooring needed to be replaced. It took a while but we found this product and it passed our test (our large dogs heavy, chewed nylon bones could not damage it when dropping off the couch, or when my husband manually pounded the material). The hope was that after install the dogs nails would not show wear/scratches. 2 months later and plenty of dog and kid wear and tear and nothing! We installed in the Kitchen, Dining, living, master bedroom and plan to install in the remaining bedrooms. We will forgo installing in the bathrooms because of the kids and, well, no wood flooring does well in bathrooms when you have kids that seems to get more water on the floor than in the shower! We have not had any issues in the kitchen with water or dogs water. We follow the manufacturer instructions for cleaning and take care of any spills when they occur. The ease of install is average because of 1. we are not professional installers and it was hard work to install like a professional. We nailed some of the starter boards to keep things from shifting and found that pre-drilling a hole was helpful because these planks are very hard to penetrate (but for durability I think that is a good thing). Overall - excellent product just be sure to take your time and install properly or have it professionally installed. Great product, good value.

Love the flooring! the color variation and texture really tied together our various wood furnishings. Installed in October in a rural household, and the finish is holding up well to dogs, cats, kids, and mud. Install was a bit tricky though. We initially started the install with 2" staples in a pneumatic floor stapler. About every fifth staple would either misfire or split the tongue of the flooring, so we'd have to pull the staple out and redo it. Switched to 2" flooring cleats after the first room and had much more success and far fewer errors! The only down side to bamboo is that if the surface of the floor is chipped or damaged, the bamboo starts to wear back into individual strands, and the splinters HURT! but as long as you're careful with installation, this won't be an issue (we just ran into it with the nails that ended up under the baseboards, and along the edges where we transitioned to tile floor, a piece of matching threshold fixed the issue there).

I ordered one box so I could test out the durability and see the color in my house. Loved it all so I ordered 47 boxes. They arrived today and the color is WAY off of the first box. Not even close. Not sure what to do now. The board on the left is from the first box I ordered a month ago. It was manufactured in September 2016. The two boards on the right were from the shipment of 47 I rec'd today.. Paid $65 for curbside delivery and had to carry all of them in from the bottom of my driveway.. Not happy. Gave 4 stars because the product is good but the quality control is WAY off. Same product just made 3 months apart. I will update with what I do later.. Ugh !!!

Although very thin, it stands up to our homes test of crazy dogs and sandy shoes. The color helps hide any mild dirt/ dust unlike the dark colors which show every speck of dirt in your homes atmosphere. Looks very industrial modern with our wall color of dove grey with white trim. Install was easy and straightforward (nailed). Some pieces had rough edges (grooves) but were easily hidden once snapped in. Install went very quickly. We have an odd shaped room and the 3 size variation helped hide any of the rooms imperfections.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great, not holding up. We installed this floor on our main floor which includes our living room, kitchen, hall way, guest bath, and office. It looks absolutely beautiful. Our biggest complaint is even the slightest bit of water or liquid will cause the floor to warp. I would not recommend this floor be used in a bathroom, a kitchen, or anywhere where there is potential for a cup to spill or the potential for any moisture. We have four boys and as beautiful as the floor is I would have gone a different route knowing what I know now. The floor looks great but I do not think its durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality We bought this flooring to replace carpet and cover a painted wood floor. The improvement is drastic. They look great. If I were to be irritated about anything it would be delivery to the store issues. You can definitely see the dark beveled edges and hands scraped look in the sun. Variation in color is great. My biggest concern was scratching but with lots of furniture moving, rocks coming in on shoes and a large dog running around we have not had an issue.

Goes down easily, looks beautiful and rich, and it is distressed enough so if you do get a scratch, use a furniture pen to cover it up. Using furniture pads to protect it further under furniture. Looked at a lot of model homes prior to putting this down and many of them had Laminate. This flooring is so much better! First room is done and we are moving on to putting this down in multiple rooms!
