Is the top of the lid the yellowish color so you don't have to use the cushion

Asked by: Judi
It is a cross between green and yellow, I will have to refinish to get the ivory color as advertised.

This bench is definitely not ivory/white. It is a putrid cross between green and yellow, the pillow top is the only feature close to ivory. Whoever finished the bench did a horrible job, the paint is streaked and there are scratches. I am going to have to paint it or shabby chic to fix it. I have been looking for weeks to find a bench and this is the perfect style, the only reason I am not going to return it. So, if you don't mind fixing someone's mistakes and this is the style you want then it is recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I expected more of an antique while, not yellow! ... I expected more of an antique while, not yellow! Will eventually have to repaint it to match our Master Bedroom furniture! It's not even remotely white! Other then that it fit our needs for what we wanted it for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What a total mess I absolutely cannot believe the extremely poor product quality. It is total junk. One side panel is warped and therefore it cannot be put together. It is made of the cheapest fibreboard I have ever seen. I have put together lots of cam bolt cabinets. Never have I seen a cam bolt actually break. Cheap Cheap Cheap. I have spent hours trying to assemble this only to reach a warped final board, so now it can't be put together without a replacement of that board. What a total mess. No redeeming qualities. ARGGGGHHHHH. Never Never Never again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not "Antique White", Much more yellow in color. Bought for our kitchen nook/entryway to be used for shoes and bags. It's a nice/solid piece of furniture... a decorative step up from flat particle board. Much heavier too. Assembly was straight forward like any other do-it-yourself project. It took about 3 hours, only because I was cooking dinner and getting the kids to finish homework during the construction. I needed my husband's help towards the end only because it is difficult to handle this bench in the last steps to get all of the joints lined up for final tightening. To the people who found the piece poorly lining up... the problem is that every thing is off kilter until you get everything in place and get all of the cams tightened simultaneously -- hence definitely needing an extra pair of hands. The only "bad" part of this is the color description. I wouldn't call it "Antique White"... white is a misnomer, it's got A LOT more yellow in it. I'd call it "champagne" maybe? It kind of goes with my mismatched cottage decor but I can see someone getting annoyed thinking it would be a subdued white color. Another thing that could annoy perfectionists out there is an odd reddish "splatter" on the finish. It looks kind of like dried fruit punch and I worried about it when taking the pieces out of the box. I don't notice it now and I don't really care since I have kids in the house. But it will be a pain to ship this thing back if you don't like it. Take a look at the close up photo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bench Once this bench went together, it looked great. However, some of my complaints were the same as others. Packing material was everywhere. I had to vacuum each piece as I unpacked it, and still there was styrofoam "lint" everywhere. Using the directions provided were confusing, and some where just incorrect. However, moving forward with common sense, I was able to assemble this with no more problems and completed the assembly in about 1 hour and I am a 63 year old woman. So if you can't do it, or take longer than an hour, you are probably lacking the common sense part of the equation. I love this's exactly what I wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised I was looking for a long and narrow bench with ample storage for my foyer entryway area. I saw this bench online and decided to give it a try since it was such a good price. It shipped very fast and arrived in just a few days. It came in pieces, packed flat. My husband was able to unpack it and put it together in about 30 minutes. Although the color was different than pictured online, I still love this piece. The color is described as Antique white on the website, but it is much more of a warm yellow color, not at all white. It also has some very subtle paint distressing technique in brown and red that gives it a nice custom touch. It is very solid and roomy, I was able to fit a few storage bins inside. This is perfect for what I needed it for and it very good quality. I feel like I got a great deal. I have also gotten many compliments on this piece! It looks very high end and is made very well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice looking if you can survive assembly The assembly on this bench was a real bear. It began with mistakes on the direction sheet that caused me to glue dowels in the wrong holes and later pry them out and continued with a lack of plumbed sides, dowels that were too long and screws that were so picky my dad ended up having to measure them to ensure they would fit together. When dropping on the bottom a dowel shot straight through the bottom and tore a hole in the base. It looks great now that it's together and I'm happy to see it sitting there, but I'm not sure the assembly was worth the trouble.
