Amy,
I ended up pulling the carpet and sanding, staining, and polyurethaning the stairs. I used a mixture of jacobean and mahogany to get the color approximately matching. Cost me a total of $200 and looks fantastic. Hope this helps with your color match. It is still in progress for me. This was a giant undertaking and i am three weekends in at this point.

I am curious if this product can be sanded and refinished. Being that it is only 3/8" thick and bamboo strand I'm not sure about this as a possibility in the future. Please advise.

This product can be resurfaced meaning that the polyurethane finish can be reapplied. Consult with a profession flooring refinisher if you desire to sand the flooring. Bamboo is a wood alternate and may require special techniques.

This is not recommended for basements, only first floor or above. It is hardwood and will not do well in the moisture.

Horizontal Hand Scraped Cafe 3/8 in. Thick x 4 in. Wide x 38-5/8 in. Length Solid Bamboo Flooring (25.76 sq. ft. / case) is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Flooring we used for a bar wall I cannot speak to the quality of this product as flooring. We installed it as a bar wall back drop for a basement remodel and it looks amazing. We nailed into studs and used some construction adhesive for safe measure. The color and handscraped aspect of it give real richness and character. This is a soft bamboo and will scratch and dent fairly easily, so each person will need to decide for themselves if it is appropriate to install in their situation. For our project it worked well and looks great. For the price, it cannot be beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This flooring is beautiful and easy to clean. Just use damp mop and the floor dries quickly. This product was easy to install. We put this flooring in the guest bedroom/grandkids playroom and the finished product was just amazing. We will be installing this also in our third bedroom. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Looking But Take Your Time! Have had it in our Dining Room, Living Room and Foyer for a few weeks. It really looks great. I had a friend who knew more than me about the install and he did a very thorough job. We used 30# felt and lauan plywood under it. Our floors are surprisingly level in this 1918 house, so that wasn't an issue. He used a high quality floor nailer and the recommended nails from the instructions. He and I worked out the start point on a long wall in the Dining Room, but were a little off as the joint was a bit closer to one wall than the other, but aesthetically that was not really an issue, as there were other spots that would have been different as we went from room to room. It's really important to figure out the details of how you want to handle door casing intersections, etc. before hand. It's all laid the same direction, so that was easier and it looks great that way. Had a small elevation transition (1/8") from Living Room to Foyer because there was existing VCT over luaun in the Foyer and we worked that out with graduated thicknesses of the felt over a 16" distance. You can't even tell, although I know it's there. Originally planned to take it through the Kitchen and Powder Room, but got cold feet. Think we'll stick with the VCT a while longer in there. Overall very satisfied with the finished look!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dont listen to bad reviews We purchased this floor and loved it! But after we got it home and I read all of the terrible reviews we were very close to returning it. I called home ledgends and talked to a rep for a half hour about what to expect from this flooring. It IS like hard wood, its going to scratch - you have to be careful! If you know how to care for hard wood it will be fine! We have 3 children, a cat and a small dog and no problems so far (only a week) we know we have to be careful! My husband installed it himself in 2 days, the entire first floor of our home. Its is beautiful. We do have a small dent where we moved the fridge but thats to be expected. it is not very noticeable bc of the hand scraped look. And yes, it does show dirt/dust alot but we knew that and dark flooring will do that. Just wanted to reassure anyone that is thinking of not purchasing bc of the negative reviews. We love it so far! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than initially expected! Overall the product is fantastic! The color is consistent among the 30 boxes we ordered. The quality control is great, only a few boards had a damaged tongue. We did a straight glue down application and so far it is going great. I would highly recommend this product. Does not look like $1.99/sqft!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! The price on this bamboo was spectacular, and we needed something that would be hard for our dogs so it didn't scratch easily. We are thrilled with this product, and I would recommend to anyone. We had it installed, so I am not sure whether it was easy to install. I will say that cherry can be difficult to maintain because dust and dog prints show up easily, but that is the color I wanted, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. I was warned about it, but chose to proceed. The lighter colors are much easier to maintain. I am very pleased!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyers Beware! Scratches way too easy!!! I bought this flooring for our family room mid-November and installed shortly after. BTW - no instructions or paperwork of any kind in any of the several boxes I purchased. There were light scratches showing immediately during and after install. I have a couch and a chair/ottoman in there, all with felt padding on the legs to protect the floor, yet the wear underneath them in just two-three weeks was unbelievable. I don't even move the furniture around enough to warrant this type of damage. The finish is very low quality and can't hold up to the "everyday wear" that the company "warranty" claims it will for 35 years! In addition, to reiterate what other reviewers have said, this floor shows EVERYTHING and is impossible to keep clean! It'd be a beautiful floor if it didn't scratch when you touch it. If you don't have pets, kids, or like to walk on your floor at all, this might be for you. But otherwise, I'd definitely stay away!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The color is beautiful The floor turned out exactly how we had hoped. The only negative thing I can say is that these floors are impossible to keep clean. Very, very high maintenance. Any little bit of dust or shoe print shows up, so I've been wiping the floors up twice a day since they were installed.
