I have only found flooring nail guns that are rated for floor thicknesses of 1/2" to 3/4". Can I use such a nail gun on this flooring which is 3/8" ?

Asked by: Anonymous
I did not nail my flooring as it would most likely split and has very little margin for error [3/8"]. Gluing is more tedious, but provided a better outcome for my home.

Would this be a good flooring option for a house with dogs?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, if the dog's nails are trimmed short and filed to round/oval points. This will greatly reduce the potential for the dog to scratch the flooring.

Horizontal Toast 3/8 in. Thick x 3-7/8 in. Wide x 39 in. Length Solid Bamboo Flooring (25.19 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh It's fine for the price. The manufacturer quality has taken a nosedive- I bought a couple of cases to go with a case I had leftover from a job a couple of years ago. Clearly HD has been squeezing the manufacturer to keep the price point the same and sacrificing quality. Every case had 4-8 boards that were completely unusable- tongues ripped off, grooves missing the top or bottom, splits down the middle, etc. The bad boards easily ate up the 10% waste. I had to use some of the lesser offending pieces in the closets just to finish the job. The price is not worth the poor quality. Luckily for me, there was no extra case this time and I will not be purchasing this floor again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Please consider something else Lesson learned, the hard way. Do Not buy this type of flooring from the Home Depot. Yes, the floors "look" good, but only for a few months when the scratches and dents begin to show all over making you wish you could have your old floors back. A claim was filed with the manufacturer for possible manufacturing defect, but later denied on the grounds that it was not covered by their warrantee. We had these floors for under 3 months before the scratches and dents began to show up, easy to imagine what they will look like in three years. The floors are easy to install, clean, and affordable. However, over a short period of time the good looks and savings do not make up for all the stress of dealing with the manufacturer or the seller's customer service. Best to stay away ladies and gentlemen. The pictures say it all.

My reason for the poor rating - does not withstand normal, everyday use. It dents and scratches easily. If you are someone who can go with out walking across the room very often, has no children or pets, and no tiny pebbles in your area then this flooring will do quite well for you. Otherwise, look for something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The natural bamboo flooring looks fantastic and is moderately easy to cut and install The interlocking bamboo pieces slide together easily and cut nicely with a miter saw. The flooring glue is a must for securing the pieces to each other to prevent floor movement. With the various bamboo shades, interesting patterns can be achieved giving the floor an original look that does not seem manufactured. The pricing provides good value with a renewable product with a beautiful sheen. Easy to dry/wet clean with microfiber mops. Directions are clear and warranty is for 25 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the quality of the product The product has a nice and warm appearance. It's entirely composed of bamboo which is why I picked the product rather than the engineered wood that has a different material as backing and a thin surface of wood. It is easy to install and found some minor defects in the tongue and groove mechanism but did not affect the installation. It dents easily, as would any other real wood product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very soft This a beautiful flooring. I would only recommend it to people with out kids or dogs as it dents very easily. The finish is very thin and scratches easily as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good flooring, but check every piece before you lay them down. I choose the 3/8" thick Bamboo flooring in the Toast color. I ordered 15 boxes to cover my kitchen and dining room which I estimated to be just under 300 Square feet. The order came on time, and was delivered on a pallet. All the boxes looked to be in good condition and none of them looked damaged. Make sure you have some where with a large enough opening (garage or basement) that the delivery guy can roll the pallet into, otherwise you could be left carrying the delivery into the house one box at a time. Even though each individual box was wrapped in plastic, I would hate to be stuck carrying this flooring into the house one box at a time, if the delivery guy had to leave it in the front yard or driveway (especially if it's raining). When installing, I followed the instructions in the box, and used a pneumatic flooring nail gun. I made sure I took randomly from at least 4 different boxes while laying the planks down, and the random variations in color came out very nice. I also made sure to lay the planks down with the joints at random intervals to give the flooring a staggered look, which worked out nicely. I would not recommend doing the installation yourself, unless you have all the right tools and a decent amount of carpentry experience. I used a compound miter saw to make sure all my cuts were straight, and purchased a pneumatic nail gun especially for this job. Installing around the edges is the most difficult. Make sure to measure twice and cut once. My only complaints are that bamboo is softer than some of the other hard woods. You'll need to be very careful when nailing it down, and moving furniture over it. At times the nail gun left marks, and at one point (rather clumsy on my part) I dropped something rigid and heavy on the floor, and it left an indentation in one of the planks. I'll chalk that indentation up to the first of many distressed touches of character in this floor. The other issue is that out of the 15 cases, I had almost 4 left over, three extra, and almost 1 whole box of wood planks that were flawed in one way or another. Inspect every plank before you secure them down. Some of them had the lot number imprinted on the front, others (the majority of the bad planks) had some sort of issue with the tongue or the groove. If you secure them down before noticing those issues the flooring may not go together very tightly, and will be very difficult to remove. I'm going to try to return the flawed planks. If I have any issues returning them, I'll post a follow up to this review. All said and done, the floor looks beautiful, and the finish is guaranteed for 35 years. Very nice cost effective upgrade to our kitchen and dining room floors. After our little one is born, and I have the time, I'll extend this flooring into our living room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price for quality flooring Easy to install for a lay person, even comes with instructions. Color of the boards are slightly different in each box, but that makes the floor look natural wood. Only down fall is it scratches easily if something is dropped on it. Overall great product for the price.
