Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dissappointedwithshelve Color of product compared to how it was advertised and shown on line was very different
Ordered this in the "walnut" color assuming it would be a "walnut" color. In fact, the product was more of a lighter cherry color. Additionally, the color of the stain on the sides of the bookshelf didn't match the color of the stain on the shelves themselves.
Sorry Home Depot / Home Decorators, I sent it back.
And, as shown online, it was a poor representation of the actual product when received.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LHWIV Quality Control
This is the second Mission Bookshelf that I ordered. The first one was excellent. The second bookshelf was out of stock and I had to wait. It would have been nice if the web site stated that and not have me call and send e-mails as to the status of my order. Also the finish of the second bookshelf is very rough and appears as if it was not finished completely. More attention needs to paid to Quality Control of the product.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bunzle Beautiful piece of furniture
Assembly took @ 45 minutes, and that was only because I had to reset the shelves. It doesn't say (and I didn't realize) that the beveled edge of shelves goes down (not up). Oops. Also I was forwarned by other reviewers about the caps that go over the screws. They won't stay by themselves, so just put them in with a bit of wood glue and that was that.
I did alot of comparative shopping before deciding on this bookcase as it fit the small space I needed it for, and the value was extremely good.
It is a very sturdy good looking piece of furniture. Comes with wall brackets for extra security. I am extremely pleased with this purchase!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by snowbirds Fourth Purchase of these Bookshelves --love them !
We had purchased three of the larger configurations of this Mission Style Bookshelf over the past few years, and found them to be great. I now needed a tall narrow shelf for a corner area, so this 14" was perfect.
These shelves are made of real wood, not sawdust and finished nicely. The assembly is quick and easy, as the predrilled holes make it foolproof. Once assembled, these shelves look more expensive than they are. We chose the Honey Oak finish and it is nicely done. The shelves are sturdy enough to hold a lot of books. Our 36" wide versions have been filled solid with books for several years with no bowed shelves. Nice product, attractive look, good value.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by xtchr2 Good Value
We purchased two of the three shelf 14 inch wide bookshelves for my wife's cookbooks and placed them as accent pieces on either side of an antique jelly cupboard in our breakfast nook. All parts and decent instructions made assembly easy. A very sturdy and functional assembled piece resulted from 10 minutes worth of work The overall appearance is good and we were pleased that the color was true to the pictures on-line and in the catalog. The finish work, although acceptable, was not consistent on all surfaces. Overall, these are the best value we found after searching for some time in stores, catalogs and on-line.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Daisy15 Sturdy & fit the space
Well packaged. No damage. Lots of pieces but only about 45 min to assemble and clean up (70 yr old woman). Sturdy, and fits very odd corner space to hold big architecture books. Wood stain coverage is ok overall. Edges of soft wood can nick easily -- even with just a fingernail. Could have rated higher but the four wood plugs for the visible crossbar holes were missing and one pre-drilled hole was over 1/4" off, making that one unusable. It serves its intended purpose and blends with craftsman and Asian furniture.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by lazmonk overall, I am pleased with my purchase
I like the looks of this bookscase. There is some oak look graining on the bookshelf, but not as much as on an oak piece. But I like it next to my light oak furniture and photo frame in the entryway/kitchen. Assembly for me was a little chanllenging. I proped up each side against a chair to attach the crossbars to the side panels. I was afraid the crossbars would break if I did not. I attached the shelfs next. Things went ok when I started at one end and assembled as i movedup the piece but seem to remember having to loosen a screw on the cross bars to insert and attach each next shelf. I would give the overall rating a 5 but feel it needs one piece of backer booard to give it a more sturdy feel. I may try to attach one to the back support slats.
