Very disappointed in the quality. I have two others of this style that are quite old. They are so much sturdier and heavier. I thought the mantle would stabilize the swaying but it doesn't. I also tried tightening the screws. And the mantle doesn't fit snug no matter what I do. Also, the hole caps on the sides are too big for the holes so they really don't fit properly. I would never consider stacking 2 of these, it would be disaster!
Pros: Nice honey color, no assembly required, portable, good size. A mantle is a nice addition. Very good customer service.
Cons: flimsy, sways even when fully loaded with books, Mantle doesn't quite fit snug, Not a good value for the money, would never buy another or recommend

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Antiqueshop1028 Great folding bookcase
I recently purchased this bookcase. I have others similar to it & love the fact it requires no assembly. It costs more than others I've purchased elsewhere but the quality is better. The stain color is true to the photo on the website. I recommend these bookcases to anyone needing additional storage who doesn't want to assemble the item.

I purchased four of these bookcases. They are attractive, but the construction is flimsy. They are definitely NOT the sturdy, thick wood kinds of bookcases I was expecting. Stacking them was not as easy as expected, either. The wood was warped just slightly, so it made it really hard to line up the pegs on the bottom of one bookcase with the pre-drilled holes on the top of the other bookcase. Finally, I have these bookshelves on carpet...not a good idea! These bookshelves (stacked tall like I have done) should only be used on tile or hardwood floors. These shelves looked a little like the leaning tower of Pisa before I added stabilizers at the bottom.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HannahHoch Solid bookcases, easy assembly
I am so happy with these new bookcases. I got two of the 27.5" wide ones and stacked them and they are very sturdy. The pieces are simple, the red color is deep and just dark enough that it doesn't look fire engine red. The whole look is quite harmonious with the rest of the room. I'm very pleased with the price, and the incredibly easy assembly. The instructions recommended that two people would be needed to stack them but I (a 5'2" woman with limited armspan) was able to manage lifting and fitting one on top of the other.
For a price similar to other big box stores, this bookcase definitely beats theirs for quality, by a lot. It's a really great value.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bbob good function and look poor fit
They are the best functioning and looking folding book shelves I have ever seen.
I orders 2 sets book shelves, which is 6 pieces. The book shelves don't fit well together and the tops almost dont fit at all. When you remove one from anther they pull the pins out. I have not attempted to remove the top yet. For the price i expect better fit.
I will soon be happy with them again till I have to pull them apart. Looking back I should not have order the tops. Just the folding shelves. The tops are poor value.
I would still suggest the shelves to a friend. Since they are the best functioning and looking folding book shelves I have ever seen.

There are very few white folding bookcases on the market, so I'd have to recommend this if you're in the market. However, the price is high compared to bookcases of a similar style but different finishes from other companies. The finish on this is also rather thinly applied and not very smooth. The folding mechanisms were well constructed, however, and all of the hardware matches well for installation. One useless aspect is the white plugs that are supplied to cover the screws. The plugs were poorly finished and do not fit at all in the holes. I had to purchase ones of a different size, paint them myself, and then install them.

I bought 2 bookcases and a mantel. Both book cases are wobbly and unstable stacked or unstacked. I need to add bracing to make the units secure before they can be used. But then, that would defeat the purpose of having a folding, stackable book case. The holes for securing the mantel to either book case top were not aligned to the pegs and no amount of hammering or muscle made the mantel fit. By the time I take the effort to retrofit these 3 pieces, I could have bought something of better quality.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wordsmith Attractive, functional piece
This bookcase caught my eye because it did not have a solid back (I wanted the color of my walls to show through); because it is easy to run a Swiffer under; because the stackable arrangement holds a lot of books and family photos while occupying minimal floor space; and because it was shippable in a collapsed state. I have not been disappointed. It is a charming, functional addition to my small office nook.
Assembly was easy with one exception: It comes with a handful of wooden plugs that conceal the screws anchoring horizontal braces between the shelves, and the plugs need to be glued in rather than just popped into place.
