Answer:
The rod we purchased from HD does not work with this as the screw holes for the set screw and ground wire are not large enough.

You can install any outdoor fan indoors. Outdoor fans are engineered with higher quality bearings, and have additional features to keep water out of the motor and light.

Answer:
Indoor/Outdoor means that it can be placed outdoors or indoors.
If it said Indoor only, then it can only be placed inside a climate-controlled inside area.
Even if it said outdoor, you can place it indoors. No ceiling fan I have ever sold or seen at Home Depot was outdoor only.
I hope this has cleared up any misunderstandings,
Joseph

I was puzzled too. I referred the manual and figured it out. There are two rubber stops screwed in where the brackets go, which you remove and dicard.

oh i'm sorry I do not yet have this fan, maybe in a week or two. It should be easy to follow directions, if you need help call the store and ask for electrical dept and they should be able to answer your questions. Study the fixture and it should become apparent on how to assemble it.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 119 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is the best ceiling fan we have ever purchased. The fan moves air more efficiently than any other ceiling fan we have used. It looks fantastic in any room, good for indoor room or outdoor porch. We plan to replace the rest of our fans with this product. August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by quality built fan at a great price! Great looking indoor-outdoor fan! I was amazed at the quality and ease of assembly. The two fans make a great addition to our screen room. With a 14x24 room with an open gable ceiling, I decided to hang two at equal distance apart. Both have separate light and fan control switches on the wall for ease of control of cooling and lighting. We love them! August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Value for a High-Humidity Area Very good value! We needed a fan that could stand up to the high humidity of southern New Jersey, and this is an attractive fan, made for outside, that we hope can fill the bill. We've had to get used to the blades, which look a little "plasticky", but we hardly notice, now, and it looks fine when it's moving. It doesn't throw a lot of light, but it's pleasant for general lighting of the master bedroom. It was easy to assemble, does move a lot of air, and it's very quiet. We'll be buying another one just like it, in the near future, for when we take out a wall and double the room. We believe that we made a good choice and we're very happy with it. May 15, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Certain liberties taken regarding blade finish and natural iron components We bought this fan on the spur of the moment to replace a 40 y/o cast iron hunter that was beginning to become noisy and did not match the Hawaiian decor of the room. The Hunter had to weigh more than 45 lbs.and thank goodness it did not have an oil bath Of all the fans we have replaced this one was the easiest to install. There were access holes to tighten the screws and plug in wiring for the light attachment. It puts out adequate air with no noticeable noise on any speeds. For the PRICE the blades should have been teak and not plastic. Finished teak from plastic makes no sense in the description, like wise the natural iron. Fan works great so far. Lizzy March 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice fan The instructions were a bit complicated at times, but we got the fan up and it works great. June 6, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Tropical like Ceiling Fan Bought this fan as we wanted a tropical/beach theme, and the fan on display looked like the one to get, go the unit home and unpacked and found that the fan blades that looked like Palm leaves, and was a little bigger than the old unit that was beginning replaced, the blades are plastic and look cheap up-close, but on the plus side it does move more air than the unit it replaced. the light fixture does not put out much light, (dim lighting) - For the price $160 do not think this a good value. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love them. We are using these fans on our deck and they look beautiful. Now I am able to sit outside on a hot day and still be comfortable. August 23, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by not as ecpected...paid to have it installed and looks cheep and don't like the white shade cover, it stands out like a sore thumb!! wish I had been able to see this up close before we bought it, just not what I expected..hate the white shade cover, does not go with the look of this fan, will be having my electrician take it down and we are taking it back!! Called Hunter on another fan bought ar same time, their warranty sucks, it came with cracked light cover and a scratch on the blade, they want you to email pics to see if they would replace these damaged parts....I am taking parts back to home depotoand they are giving me other ones... I like this fan or would also be sending it back!! WILL NEVER BUY HUNTER PRODUCTS AGAIN AFTER TAKING TO THEIR REPRESENTATIVE....HOW CAN THEY QUESTION PARTS THAT CAME DAMAGED WHEN THE PRODUCTS ARE BRAND NEW!! July 22, 2016
