Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Majosh Love the shelf/coat rack, but not the hardware!
The seven hook shelf/coat rack assembled very easily, and the finish on the wood looks great alongside other furniture I already had with cherry finish.
However, the hardware that came with the product for hanging it to the wall SHOULD NOT BE USED. The mollys were too small for the screws and began to spin in the wall as I attempted to insert the screw. I had to remove the mollys and patch over the holes I created (which added an extra day's time to hang the coat rack). Do yourself a favor and buy a dry wall molly set with screws; the #6 size button head screw fit just perfectly into the slots on the backside of the coat rack.

The coat rack has a nice overall appearance, and the assembly of the frame was very easy. The holes for the hooks were started, but were not lined up properly for the hooks which made getting the screws in difficult. The drywall plugs were too small for the screws, so when I tried to screw the rack to the wall, the plugs turned and made the hole in the sheetrock larger. The rack is still not mounted to the wall because I have to find a new way to mount it. The hooks are very rough in texture so it will be interesting to see if they are going to be dust collectors. It will serve the purpose for which I needed it once I get the mounting problem resolved.

Although this shelf looks really nice when it is all assembled and up on the wall, I was disappointed that the entire thing had to be assembled from scratch. I thought that maybe the hooks would have to be put on and that would be it. As it turns out, the whole thing comes in pieces. It is not difficult, just not what I thought I was getting. Also, the screws that are provided to affix the shelf to the wall, did not fit on the pre-drilled spaces , so we had to file down the screws a little bit in order for them to work. We also had to buy wall mollys because the holders provided are junk. This is the first item I have bought from Home Decorators that has disappointed me. All the other items I have bought were wonderful.

Assembly looked like it would be easy. Wrong! The holes in some of the pieces do not line up, making the locking cams useless. The plastic mounts for the posts on the shelf protrude past the surface as well as being as well as being out of place. Each hook has 4 pre-drilled screw holes in the hanger rail, and the right 2 holes on all 5 mount points do not line up with the holes in the hooks. I got out my drill press and screws and had it together in just a couple of hours. It is just right in size, style, and utility, but the manufacturing QC is awful.

Even though I measured for this coat rack, the hooks are too close together making it difficult to really hang even a jacket. You have to squash things together. Two hooks would have been better. Even if I had ordered the 5-hook rack, I would have the same problem. For such a small purchase, it was really difficult to put together, even for my husband who can usually whip this stuff out really quickly. And there was some damage to the item in shipment. The price was low so I guess you get what you pay for. But the appearance was actually pretty nice.

Built well, does the job, just make sure you know what you're doing when you mount it. Good for small entrances in a 2-3 person household.

This thing is poorly made:
1) The dowels were too small, so the thing rattles loosely when you pick it up.
2) The holes were drilled too large, so one of the screws just fell right out.
3) They enclosed the wrong number of screws.
It's also a poor design:
1) It fastens to the wall with only two screws and those are on the bottom between the hooks while most of the weight is at the top by the shelf.
2) The hooks are WAY too heavy. Assembled it must be 20-25 lbs. It took a chunk out of my plaster wall when I tried too install it. That's going to be a pain to repair.
I'm sending it back and am really upset about the mess it's made of my wall. Everything else I've bought from from Home Decorators has been decent to fine quality. This is a piece of junk they shouldn't even carry anymore.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Datad00d Nice rack, but...
My wife and I purchased based mostly on appearance in the catalog and on the web site. It's a very nice rack, but the instructions in my opinion are pretty poor. There is no texutal information in the instructions. Now I will say the diagrams are very detailed and it was fairly easy to assemble, but I would have liked to have at least seen some dimensions or some sort of width indication to make the shelf easier to mount on the wall. A template of some sort would be nice (for the price). Instead I will have to make my own which isn't a big deal again, but for the price it could have been included. Also not all of the holes for the metal rack pieces lined up with the holes in the wood. For the money I would buy one that is pre-assembled and has detailed instructions for mounting or a template of some kind.
