I have few questions.. Please help

1. I have 21 ft x 27 ft living room connected with kitchen 12 ft x 18ft connected with 12 ft x 12 ft. Can I lay this floor without transition moulding... I am thinking to lay this SW Java click lock continuously. Is it possible? 2. I am planning to install on First floor and I have unfinished walkout basement with no heat. I live in Wisconsin. What kind of underlayment would be perfect for this condition. 3. My 9 year old jump a lot. She really jumps hard. I am not sure this "jumping" would cause any damage on the "click lock floor". Presently I have carpet on living and dining. Kitchen has click lock laminate
Asked by: subrdas2
I just installed this floor in a living room/kitchen 13x 35 and it installed beautifully without a transition piece.

I recently installed about 325 sq. ft. of this wood (3/8" click lock in Java) and overall I'm pleased with the ease of installation and how the floor looks. First, let me start with a few of the 'bad' items I came across. One of the boxes of wood I received had issues with the veneer top. Every time I made a cut with my miter saw the top of the wood around the edge would detach giving it a milky appearance. This seemed to be a problem with the entire box, though I didn't encounter this with wood from any of the other boxes so I don't believe it was the blade on my saw. Ultimately I used each piece from this box for edges underneath baseboard moulding and closet pieces to keep them from view. Not a deal breaker by any means. The only other negative I came across was a few warped pieces here and there, maybe 3-4 that couldn't be used as full length pieces that ultimately were used as cut pieces. Again, not a deal breaker for only 3-4 pieces of wood. Now the good. First, I think this product looks great installed. I've never used click lock before, I'm impressed at the precision of the locking mechanism. There are really no gaps between any boards, this wood seems to me machined well. Cuts from my miter saw and table saw came out clean minus the one box I mentioned earlier with veneer issues. My jigsaw has a cheap blade, cuts from it were rough though they're all hidden under door jambs and floor registers. After installation, the floor feels very solid. I haven't noticed any boards that feel like they're floating. I have a few pieces where I can hear the underlayment crackle when I step on them, this should subside after awhile. Installation is an absolute breeze. On day one I did an entire bed room (130 sq. ft.) in about 4 hours without any help. I'm by no means an expert, just a weekend DIYer. It's nice to not be tethered to a pneumatic nailer, definitely speeds up the process. The boards go together easily and I mostly used a hard whack with my hand to get them into place. A few places in closets and around door jambs required a mallet and tapping block. Last thing I want to mention is durability. I've only had this wood installed for a few weeks but so far I see no scratches. I feel that it is as durable as I expected... my 30lb. dog doesn't scratch it, a few random drops on the floor have not caused any damage. I had my shop vac rolling around it and again, no issues. Based on my issues with one of the boxes having a messed up veneer I don't expect this to be super durable wood but at $2/sq. ft., I feel like I got what I paid for.

My reach thru bar was destroyed due to a flood from upstairs neighbor. Trying to match cabinets from kitchen. The interlocking wood planks were a perfect fit . Covering bar and underneath the new hanging cabinets. Install was easy, by cutting and staggering the plank lengths. Able to cut planks for small pot lights above bar. Glued planks and used small nails, (covered heads with wood ink). Trimmed out edges with wood left over from cabinets installed. The diversity of water proof and durability was why I choose this brand. Installed march 2017. Exceeded my expectations.

(21 cases) in our downstairs living room, dining room, hall, and bedroom/office. I went right over an existing, old, and tired hardwood floor using the recommended underlayment and it came out beautiful. The product was simple to install, hardly found a bad board in the entire batch, and has not shown a mark (even with our cat) or scratch. I ordered this online and picked it up from my local store and everything was as advertised or better. The boxes were well packed, the boards in great shape and they even loaded it for us. One word of advice if you're taking on a project of this size, rent the jam saw to trim all the door jams and other trim so the new floor slides right under. Makes life much easier and beats taking down and reinstalling trim. Great product and a great value.

Installed it in a room that was converted from a 3 season room to a living room over a year ago. The room is only heated with a space heater so when the heater is off the room is unheated and very cold, therefore, the flooring constantly goes from cold to heated all winter. After I realized how nice it was I continued it throughout the rest of my house. It has held up very, very well. The only 2 blemishes it has received are from me dropping tools on it - made a small nick each time. I have not seen a single scratch. Having said that, we do not have a dog with claws that would be scratching the floor or little kids running around dropping things but it has received enough traffic over the year to say that it holds up very well to normal wear and tear. The friends who installed it said they did not have a problem with the installation. I know sometimes less expensive flooring does not go together well. They did the living room in about 3 hours and the rest of the house in about 5 hours. My only issue (which is an issue with me not with the flooring at all) is that it is hard to keep clean. It shows dirt, hair and smudges very easily because it is dark. I am a clean freak so this probably bothers me more than the average person. I love dark wood floors so I guess that is the trade off - just something to consider if you like to keep it looking clean at all times. I sweep it a few times a week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from beautiful floor!! easy install This flooring product was just awesome. A breeze to instal with the click lock feature and best of all bo glue mess or staples needed. This board has a plywood base MDF center and a pretty thick veneer of bamboo on top. Defintley excited that i did not get the one offered in other popular yellow stores that had a paper thin veneer. I would not be surprised if this can be refinished. Anyway get yourself a nice underlayment. I live in south florida so humidy is an issue. To bot void warranty i installed 6mil vapor barrier and robert felt underlayment on top of that. Beautiful solid floor!!

This flooring was the easiest floor to put down (we did it ourselves) - the click lock is way easy and the floor is beautiful. The color is warm and it is made of bamboo so it is very renewable....I did a test on the sample before we bought it....I took my claw hammer and laid the sample on my floor and hit it three times with the claw (and I swing a mean hammer) and there wasn't a mark on's beautiful, I love it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to put down a floor that looks like it was done by professionals and has a 25 year wear warranty..... Try it, you'll like it !!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great but scratches We had this installed in our entire first floor including the kitchen. It looks great but the floor scratches so much. We have had the floor installed for more than a month and there are so many scratches and three dents. I do have felt in the bottom of all my furniture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful floor My husband and I just finished installing 400 sf of this floor and I must say, it looks AMAZING. Installing a floor was a first for both of us, but it was easy to do (except for all the weird cuts we had to make because of the unusual shape of the room). The boards were in excellent condition (only 1 damaged out 160) and the color was uniform so we didn't have to worry about mixing from box to box. The color and finish are beautiful--exactly what I'd hoped for! We were worried that a floating floor would not feel "solid", but so far I am 100% pleased. No creaking or movement whatsoever. We used a 2mm foam underlay over a plywood subfloor (2nd story).
