I think it can. (If using a rug over the area near the tub.) I over estimated the amount I needed for my kitchen (by 3 boxes.... I am NOT a professional) and I am going to put it in my bathroom. I did get the underlayment that will keep moisture from the flooring under it. This is the bathroom I use daily too.

The bamboo flooring could be installed in the kitchen, but it would be done with some risk. We thought serious about installing the bamboo flooring in the kitchen, but decided against it for the following reasons:
1) The bamboo product is not listed for use below grade, in say like a basement, so there must be some moisture concerns (accidental spillages), which could be mitigated by taking care of spills immediately after they happen. We did put the product at the front and rear door entries, which time will tell how well this holds up. So far, with this tough winter season this year, it seems to be doing ok.
2) What surface are the kitchen counters on? For us, they sit on linoleum and then sub flooring. This means taking out the cabinets, hopefully not damaging them, taking out the sub flooring, which may be luan on plywood or OSB board, installing the bamboo flooring on the plywood or whatever subsurface and reinstalling the counters on the bamboo flooring to get the right height for a tall tub dishwasher (which was an issue for us). Linoleum with sub flooring is not likely to match the same elevation as the bamboo flooring on subflooring.
3) If your kitchen cabinets currently sit on linoleum, it may be a better option to go to a groutable vinyl floor tile (looks just like ceramic tile, really, but is less expensive, less time consuming won't crack, will be softer on feet and dishes) or something else that has the same elevation to cut around existing cabinets.
4) The real kicker for us was the bevelled match lines of the bamboo flooring. This is also why we like it because we like the bevelled look, but in a kitchen, it would seem like there is a good potential for crud to get in the grooves of the bamboo flooring edge bevels, then tough to clean and keep clean.
Hope this helps,.... Read Less

Answer:
This flooring is engineered bamboo which can be resurfaced, meaning that the protective coat of polyurethane can be reapplied. Consult with professional for technique and details of this process. However refinishing to the point of sanding down to the veneer is not recommended.

Prone to "cupping" and requiring more hours of clean-up than the actual install. I have previously laid Oak flooring (nailed over plywood) with great results - this job was on a concrete slab, a whole nuther thing. Looks great and has a durable finish butt the cupping is a severe disappointment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful mid tone classic looking floor. I am not the greatest 'decorator' and have trouble making a decision when choosing things like flooring, especially when the cost can be expensive. I love this floor. I just put it down (a friend helped and he does have some experience in this type of thing but I think I could have done it myself, it was not hard at all. Just making sure the measurement was right before cutting would have been my biggest problem. Laying it was easy) in the kitchen and it is a mid spectrum shade that also has variations in the grain color giving it a very nice look. I also have dogs and cats, 13 of them and love to cook so the kitchen gets a lot of wear. This was newly installed so I really cannot discuss the long term durability, but I have cleaned it 3 times a day so far (I have a Hoover floormate) and it looks great after each cleaning I read how to clean it and do plan on getting an area rug to help protect it even more. It is a color that would be enhanced by many wall colors and seems to go with other woods quite well. I love it so much I am thinking of replacing my other floors with it. Now to save the money! (I can add a photo if anyone wants... just ask)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This flooring is great This is my second order for this product. After seeing how great it looked in the first room, I decided to put it in my bedroom. I have 3 very large dogs, and I can't believe how well it has stood up. Great product with a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Flooring - love it! I just removed carpeting and replaced with this bamboo - it is just beautiful! The installer said it was so hard that he had trouble finding the right tool but that's a good thing. Every piece received was just great - no bad pieces in 19 cases. So far this is the best floor in th house!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product Would have given it a 5 star rating but there is a variance in color within a case as well as accross cases. Manufacturer could do a better job of at least packaging similar colors in one case, as the variance end to end is within a certain range. Even with that, the finished product looks impressive. For someone who is concerned about the potential for color variation in a pre finished product, so long as you have space, the planks could be spread out and like finishes sorted to minimize the color variance. We did this to an extent, say three boxes at a time, puttting darker planks by windows and lighter planks in darker areas, which seems to work to an extent, but we did not open all boxes and sort them all prior to installing due to space limitations. However, if you want a consistant color tone end to end, you might consider to use an unfinished product if you feel you can control the coloration better. I had no problem with tongues breaking off when nailing down the flooring. We used a ($130) Ryobi battery powered air compressor nail gun, (mini internal compressor), which worked well. One of the days was a 12 hr day on one lithium ion battery and didn't wear the battery down to a recharge point. Ease of install was marked average as the three foot planks just take time to get right and tight. 6 footers would have cut the install time but the pattern would perhaps look awkward. We did 1 foot staggers. The same effect could be acheived with 2' staggers on 6 foot boards, but the scale may not work room size dependent. I was doing 400 sq ft. #15 felt paper was recommended in the instructions as an underlayment, which was inexpensive and worked very well. 72 hr acclimation period not marked on outside of box.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BAMBOO FLOORING We purchased this floor and couldn't wait to install it, I have always wanted bamboo. During the installation process we kept blowing the bamboo apart. We tried two seperate nailers, adjusted the pressure everywhere from 60 to 100, tried different gage nails even staples all of which were unsuccessful. I understood going into this that tweaking would be necessary but nothing seemed to work. I then contacted our closest home depot which explained to us that they had the proper nailer for the job. Upon arrival at the store to rent the nailer, I was told that it wasn't for the 3/8 bamboo that we had purchased. While at the store the store employee tried multipe guns, nails and staples just as I had at home. Without success He accompanied me to the flooring department where they contacted HomeLegends directly to see if they had any further suggestions. The man at home legends was not only rude and not helpful, he told us we should just glue the flooring then. After asking for his supervisor 20 times and him disobeying our request, the flooring department disconnected the call and store management was contacted. Management informed me that they would order me another case at no charge and send me home with a nailer that may work. I then explained to him that I wish to never see this floor again but would try his suggestion. He informed me that if I was still not satisfied that I could return the unpackaged cut up flooring that we had purchased no questions asked. So after 3 hours at home depot I was on my way home... Upon returning home, my husband and I started to install the bamboo flooring. It was working okay, but was still very touchy and the nailer was occasionally damaging the surface of the bamboo as well. Lets just say, the flooring was ripped out and returned, Home Depot worked very well with us and I am very thankful for that. If we didn't live an hour away from our closest home depot, maybe the inconvience wouldn't have been so bad. We did end up purchasing another flooring but went with the click lock/floating. We are still waiting for it to be delivered... If you are considering the 3/8 bamboo nail/glue flooring I strongly suggest against it. The flooring itself was beautiful, but it was only surface deep!!
