Has anyone had a problem with the light work at all?

Yes. Technician on the help desk indicated it may be a loose pin connection within the housing. Requires taking the fan down and removing the housing.

Customer Reviews

Trudeau 60 in. LED Indoor Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan with Light Kit and Remote Control is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 135.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very pleased with this fan Other than an issue with a bad dimmer switch that was connected to the power source where the fan was to be installed, the fan was simple and easy to install. After bypassing the bad dimmer switch which restricted the current flow and made the fan malfunction, it operates perfectly. So far I am very pleased with the looks and performance of the fan. I would recommend this fan and advise anyone installing it to follow the instructions very closely and you will be pleased as well. The only negative thing I would mention is with the number of blades it has, I expected it to move more air than it does. But that is a minor issue for me. It still performs well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beauty Far Surpasses Its Minor Mechanical Imperfections We installed this fan in our master bedroom a couple weeks ago. We added an 18" downrod to draw more attention with our high, sloping ceiling. It has nice airflow, great light, and looks amazing. We've received tons of compliments and love how unique it is. Once we programmed the remote (BE SURE TO DO THIS!), things seemed to function fine. Like many other reviews mentioned, the warm/cool buttons are reversed, but this is not a deal breaker for us. It DOES struggle to reverse directions... it takes patience and a little verbal encouragement :) but USUALLY will eventually reverse. Overall, for the price paid, we are very pleased. It's only a $300 fan but looks much nicer than $300.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product, Excellent Customer Service!!! We loved this ceiling fan and light the minute we saw it... even better was the fact that it is controlled remotely! There was a minor problem after installing the fixture; the fan would not reverse directions. After resetting the remote several times, with the same result, a call into Home Decorators (associated with Home Depot) resulted in a new controller being sent within 3 days. Clear instructions were provided and all was now correct! This fan cannot be heard, has 9 speeds and the light can be dimmed... would highly recommend to anyone.

My wife and I were remodeling our living room and bedroom with 20 foot sloping ceilings and looking for a fan to replace the dated 52" 5 blade fans including 4 regular 40W incandescent bulbs. We looked all over the internet and found some interesting fans but nothing that caught our attention until we stumbled upon the Trudeau. It was in the size we were looking for at 60" and had a truly strong visual. I read the reviews and they did seem fairly positive, even when compared to many other fans online. We purchased two fans online with free shipping on sale for $239, which seemed inexpensive to many of the other fans online in this category. The boxes were intact and they looked brand new. However I must say there are quite a few issues with the quality. Considering the number of blades they must be lightweight so as to keep the total weight reasonable. Therefore I had no illusions as to the "cheap" blade construction, but I was surprised that even with tissue paper in between each blade there were many scratches and even a few "chips". One blade even had a bubble from the veneer. I've installed many fans and am familiar as to the overall quality of fans these days so I was not put off by the "bronze" paint that was often missing on parts in locations that do not matter or will be hidden during installation. However, when it came time to install a new 24" downrod purchased from my local HD I was extremely frustrated by the quality issues. Both fans had this issue. When screwing in the downrod into the fans I was unable to screw in the downrod enough to align the safety pin holes. I resorted to a round file to extend the holes closer to the end of the rod. Now, I could blame the downrod but considering both are HD products they should be compatible either way. The next struggle was that even with my hole extended I had to use pliers to hold the female end on the fan motor and then insert a screwdriver into the holes on the downrod in order to get enough leverage to turn the VERY tight threads to have enough room for the safety pin to engage. Already I am questioning my decision to buy this fan. Finally I was able to get the downrod in place and could install the fan. But I discovered that the existing green ground wire and attached screw on the 6" included downrod is a larger diameter than the 24" downrod hole diameter. I used my tap set to enlarge the hole to match so the ground screw could be screwed in. After wiring and assembling the blades the fan looks as advertised. I followed the instructions to program the fan and all went to plan. Once I turned on the fan the blades begin to dance by moving forward VERY slowly then stopping and reversing, then reversing again several times before it slowly gains full speed. I called technical support and was told that this was normal for a DC motor fan. I should think that a VERY LARGE notice in the manual or a sticker on the fan to start would be helpful as this was a new thing as I have always purchased AC motor fans. Over the course of several days this annoying "calibration" continues to dance before it gets into a rhythm. I hope in the near future it can just start and spin. I tested the other features and found the reverse direction works perfect, as I have read many others who state the direction buttons are reversed. I did notice that when selecting a different speed it was difficult to notice a change. With so many speed options (9) that may be why I struggle to notice a change. Usually I just choose the top speed or a much slower speed for a gentle rotation. We were concerned that the overhead light would be too dim for our ceiling, but found it to be very bright although the color temp is a bit whiter than what we would like, I believe it is in the 3,000k range vs our other LED lighting fixtures at 2,800K which have a warmer tone. The comfort mode which alternates the fan speed at various times to create a more natural "breeze" seemed at first a gimmick but we have actually discovered that the constant airflow can be exhausting over a period of time - think wind at the beach. The comfort setting gives you a relief from that constant air flow as it creates "waves" of air vs a "waterfall" of air. We also thought that the timer button was a gimmick as we were unsure why I would want my fan to stop in 2, 4 or 6 hours. However that was quickly changed with the fan in our bedroom. We often enjoy the fan as we fall asleep but wake up in he middle of the night to turn off the fan as the temperature has cooled down. This setting allows me to turn off the fan automatically in a few hours. The black remote is good looking and feels good in the hand. The LED lights on the remote are also a nice touch and helps confirm my selections. Now that the fan is running I can see that it shakes at high speed and from the side the blades are very inconsistent in position so it looks to be moving up and down. Although the blades are "warped" and I have tried to adjust them the overall performance is not bad. I did notice that someone did review and said that they were surprised that with so many blades that there was not more air flow. This fan moves 6,984 CFM which puts it almost into the high airflow category which starts at 7,000 CFM. More blades do not create more airflow, but angle of blade and speed of blades will. Consider a airplane propeller with only two blades, the speed and angle generate enough air flow to move that plane on the ground and into the air. We are pleased overall with the fans but be forewarned that you might need additional work to get it in place. If there had been an similar fan design for $400 that was a higher quality we would have purchased those instead. However I could not find one. Long-term I hope the fan does its job and continues to be reliable....only time will tell.

It doesn't sway at all, the remote is simple to sync, and it produces a great breeze. Be aware of the installation. It is not difficult, but takes a long time. Lots of moving parts. I installed this fan with my dad, and when complete, my whole family thought it looked beautiful and well worth the time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beautiful but has issues We love the look of this fan and the air it puts out is wonderful. But the motor connect to the remote properly so the fan stutters back and forward before finally going the correct direction. We've had the motor replaced but still have the same issue. We even had the whole fan replaced and it still doesn't work properly. Super frustrating

It's VERY smooth and VERY quiet. It seems perfectly balanced. We had to get a longer downrod for a vaulted ceiling but that was an easy fix. Love the breeze cycle. I alternated the color of blades so it would blend with our light trim and dark furniture.
