This bookshelf is a little deceiving in it's look and style. The shelves are a very lightweight wood in a greyed tone and in places, just one or two spots, the metal parts are very rough. The assembly instructions showed the parts clearly but had no wording about how to assemble them...just arrows! The 3 metal bars that go between the top curved part would not screw in all the way on my piece, so it does not stand straight against the wall. Hope you have better luck.

This bookcase is attractive, was quickly shipped, easy to put together and is an altogether great product!
I am so excited to use it in my new office!!!

This shelving unit came in a large box that took 2 people to handle, but only because it is awkward to move with one person - the weight of the unit is ok to move with one person once it's assembled. The wood shelves have a light/medium brown weathered appearance, which was the look I was going for. Some have commented on the difficulty of assembly, and with some holes not quite lining up, but I found it went together fairly easy in about 1 hr. I loosely started all of the screws, then stood the unit up on a level surface before tightening everything - in order to make sure it was level and plumb. I also marked and pre-drilled the wood shelves a little before securing the screws - just to be sure I didn't split the wood.

We purchased this to go in our home office. The first one had a bent frame, but HD sent another one and it was fine. Others mentioned difficulty assembling it, but Idid by myself with just a power screwdriver (that's really helpful and will safe lots of time) and a hand screwdriver. I did restain the shelves before assembling. That went smoothly. It looks good and is exactly as pictured. The metal is a bit rough in places, but that just gives it that industrial vibe.

Very poorly engineered, nothing lined up and the quality was inferior.

I really like my book case. The instructions were laughable, and two of the shelves were missing their pre-drilled holes, but we were able to securely assemble the book case anyway. The instructions were a joke. My husband and I assembled it in about an hour. I wish we're shelves were a darker color. It had a strong cedar smell once unpacked, which has since dissipated. All things considered, I really like it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JenniferCT2015 Very nice addition
As noted by others, this piece is slightly rustic, but very nice looking. Yes, there are some inconsistencies in the wood and frame, but that is part of the beauty of this piece. The shelves were a little too light for my dark hardwood floors, so I stained them darker and they came out beautiful. The assembly directions aren't the most helpful, but there was a gentleman that wrote a previous review on this piece and he gave tips with more complete directions, which were very helpful. On a side note, save $50 by waiting for a "free shipping" promotion.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MinnesotaGirl Perfect to showcase my faux painting on the wall!
Love this bookcase... it's perfect in my Tuscan style office. It was easy to put together although a little cheaply made. Some of the holes were painted over so it looked like you couldn't use them, but the screws went right through. I did have one bolt that wouldn't go in, but it wasn't crucial and for the price/value equation it is perfect.
I wanted something that would add a design element into my office, showcase photos but still allow my faux painted walls to be prominent - which it does perfectly!
I love this bookshelf! It hardly took 30-45 minutes to put together. It did smell for the first week as the stain on the wood needed to be aired out.
