Rated 5 out of 5 by Look Nice My wife selected these for EVERY window in our home. She loves them and the look great December 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Great looking blind at a great price. The installation was quick and relatively easy. The 72 inch width was just right without any cutting for my window. January 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Looks amazing for the price! I installed two 72" and one 36" of these blinds. One of the 72" blinds fit perfectly with no shortening needed. The other two were shortened to half there length. After reading these blogs I was anxious to start. I'm not particularly handy but at times I manage. I had zero issues reducing the length of these blinds. Yes, you need to be patient and not get distracted while cutting the proper lines and loops. There is no need to trim the loops nor the ladders particularly close because you end up trimming away all but four inches that hangs below the bottom base. Make sure you leave one rung attached below your bottom ( last ) blind. After you've cut all the necessary ladders & rungs simply pull the shade up to meet your desired lowered length. Make sure all of your lines are in there proper place and cut the two cords about 4" below the base. Then simply coil the strings in the bottom of the base and push the plug firmly in. I didn't even need a screwdriver. Good sharp scissors, steady hands and in my case glasses and your good! If one end of your base is slightly lower than the other just coil & plug that one to the height of the other end. Again, don't let little ones or the one you love distract you! Also, keep in mind you didn't purchase custom $1000 or more blinds but you certainly won't be dissatisfied. November 5, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Mixed review... I purchased 5 sets for a new house, in espresso, 2 1/2" faux wood, for about $450. In my previous residence I had Levolor blinds custom made and installed for about $700 (6 sets), due to two windows being too wide to use off-the-shelf blinds. My experience with the Levolor blinds installed by one of HD's installation contractors was 5 stars; good quality blinds and nice installation. The Home Decorator blinds look nice, but seem a little cheap in terms of the mechanism used to raise and lower the blinds...although I don't raise and lower them daily, they seem a little flimsy, like they're struggling to get the job done. I usually use my other hand to help support the weight of the blinds as I pull the cord. The biggest problem that I have with these is shortening them. Following the instructions that I received, it is impossible to drastically shorten the blinds (I have short, wide windows and had to remove many slats) according to the instructions. There is simply not enough room in the cavity on the bottom slat to stuff all the extra cord into. I cut the ladders, but the support cords were still very long and didn't fit well into the cavity after taking out the plug. Granted I am not an expert installer, but the salesperson at HD noted that even their installers charge an extra $25 per blind to shorten, based on the difficulty. I'm fairly satisfied with the two blinds that I didn't have to shorten, though if I had to do it all over again, I would pay the extra money for the custom Levolor blinds. Using self-installation, it would likely only be about $100-150 more. November 8, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice looking but poor quality I love the look of these blinds and have used them in my house and condo. However they don't last because the tilt control breaks easily. I'd say this has happened to a 1/3 of my blinds. I'm going to see if I can replace the tilt control rather than buy new ones. January 14, 2012
