How bright a bulb may be used in this ceiling light fixture?

Asked by: Marge
The wattage is the limitation and the instruction booklet says the max allowed is 2x14w bulbs. So the best bet is to get 2 A19 (there's not that much room) 14w LED bulbs. Currently, the highest output from such 14w LED bulbs is 1500 lumens. However, since LED bulbs get more and more efficient with better technology, you'll probably have the option for brighter 14w bulbs in the future.

How many bulbs does it take?

Asked by: Corey
To directly answer your question (why don't people answer the question?): Two. However you can operate it with one or none should you wish. It comes with 14 watt CFL bulbs. This is because incandescent bulbs are no longer available and CFLs are cheap (and crummy). Suggestion: Throw the CFLs in the trash and put in LED bulbs. Notice the cost of fans that come with LEDs instead of CFLs. $50 or more expensive. You get what you pay for.... I own this fan and installed LEDs on day one.

Can this fan be operated from a light switch on the wall?

Asked by: Matt
Yes, I have 2 wall switches for my fans - one for the light and one for the fan. The black wire on the unit is for the fan, blue for the light. Problematic, though, to add a switch if it's not already there.

The light is so weak that it hurts your eyes and additional lighting is now necessary for the small bedroom that I put it in.

The fan works well but the solid metal ends on the chain will break the frosted bowl if you accidentally hit them when you are taking off your shirt. They are very heavy and swing right into the light if hit. The bowl is out of stock and currently IMPOSSIBLE to get. Long story short I would not recommend this light because it is so difficult to find spare parts. Now I have to buy another fan for spare parts or replace it...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super easy install!! When we bought our house it had 5 of the larger 52 inch versions installed, but the two guest rooms only had light fixtures. We were instantly hooked when we saw this smaller version and have purchased two. I am fairly handy, but even someone with limited skills can easily install this by following the very detailed instructions. These fans run whisper quiet and look great. Highly recommend!

It was very easy to assemble, but it is not the airflow I expected based on the ratings on the box. Other fans with lower airflow in my house move more air than this fan. The blades are plastic so I'm hoping they do not warp.

It's a nice looking fan and was very easy to assemble. The snap in blades make putting the blades on very easy. These blades are a solid dark brown plastic rather than a faux wood finish like the other fans we have; it doesn't really bother me, but I couldn't tell that from the picture so I mention it here. The only, and it's pretty significant, drawback to this fan is that it hardly puts out any light. Another reviewer had commented on this as well and I had noted the bulb wattage in the item description so I thought I was prepared, but seriously folks, this light is REALLY dim. We weren't planning on using it as a main source of light in the room, but I'm still a little astonished at how lame these bulbs are. Going to to have to look for alternate bulbs that might put off a bit more light. If you are looking for a fan to be the main source of light in a room, I would NOT choose this one. If you want a nice looking fan that's easy to assemble and you plan to use table and floor lamps to complement it, then this one is a good choice.

Fan is attractive, reasonable price, works well, BUT the lighting is dim, which can easily be 'fixed' with brighter LED bulbs, which is what I had done (we purchased 2 for a large family room. Looked great!!! Well I apparently did not replace the light cover on one of the fans and it somehow vibrated loose-- fell and broke out of the blue, the following day. Home Depot does not carry these light cover replacements, they are out of stock online indefinitely, and I have even, thru an emailed requested parts list, (as directed by manfacturer) requested a replacement cover. Which to date, have had no response from. Therefore, I would NOT recommend this particular fan.

I'm going to replace them with 14w LED 100w equivalent lights soon. I like the plastic blades. They should be more durable than wood ones, especially in high humidity locations. Main thing I wanted to mention is that the fan is silent. No motor noise. Was worried based on some reviews here but I wonder if those fans were hooked up to multi-speed wall switches. The switch for my fan is a simple on/off type.

Five stars because it was easy to assemble and does not wobble at top speed; performing like a more expensive fan. What frustrates me about cheap ceiling fans is how they never seem balanced enough to run at top speed. This fan does not have that problem, and the fan blades snap in to slots, which eliminates five screws per blade on a typical fan assembly. I will probably replace the included CFL bulbs, which are slow to reach full brightness and have an unnatural hue.
